Volvo Trucks' latest film, Casino, features the world's first dual-clutch transmission for a truck. The video follows the first day of work of Ambrogio Adani, a parking attendant who took a really unexpected turn. All this is part of a big joke in which Ambrogio, without suspecting it, plays a major role.

The latest Volvo Trucks movie, Casino, resembles a hidden camera. In it, 23-year-old Ambrogio Adani finds himself in the lead role without even knowing it, as his first change of valet parking at a casino in San Remo, Italy, was not at all what he expected. Having parked several luxury sports cars, Ambrogio was extremely shocked when a brand new Volvo FH truck equipped with I-Shift dual clutch suddenly appeared on the red carpet, and the perfectly dressed driver casually tossed the keys to the powerful car.

I-Shift Dual Clutch is a unique dual clutch transmission based on technology very similar to that used in the most luxurious sports cars. In this way, the truck does not lose either speed or torque when shifting gears, and Volvo Trucks is the first manufacturer in the world to develop this type of transmission for serial use in trucks.

“The Dual Clutch Transmission is a big step forward in truck development as it provides smoother and easier driving. The harder the course or the harder the route and the more gear changes, the more I-Shift Dual Clutch you need,” said Astrid Dreusen, Volvo Trucks Transmission Line Product Manager.

I-Shift Dual Clutch can be described as two parallel gearboxes. With it, drivers can shift gears without releasing the throttle or interrupting the power supply, since it has two input shafts and two clutches with which you can select two gears at the same time, and the clutch determines which one is active at the moment. When one gear is active, the next is preselected in the other gearbox.

From September 2014, I-Shift Dual Clutch will be available in all markets where the Volvo FH is sold with Euro 6 D13 engines with 460, 500 or 540 hp.

Casino is a worthy continuation of a series of extraordinary films in which Volvo Trucks presents the technological innovations and exceptional capabilities of its trucks. Directed by Henry Alex Rubin, who also wrote the popular real-time test films The Chase, in which stuntman Rob Hunt maneuvers the new Volvo FL through the narrow city streets of the Spanish city of Suidad Rodrigo, chased by bulls and Ballerina Stunt, in which Faith Dickey balances on a rope between two trucks moving at full speed, demonstrating the improved stability and control of Volvo trucks.

I-Shift Dual Clutch Facts:

– The I-Shift Dual Clutch is based on the I-Shift gearbox. Despite many new components, the new gearbox is only 12 cm longer than the conventional I-Shift gearbox.

– I-Shift dual clutch shifts gears without cutting off power. When driving in conditions where it is more optimal to skip several gears, the new transmission acts like a conventional I-Shift transmission.

– The I-Shift Dual Clutch can shift smoothly and without interruption in power transmission in any gear except for range changes that are made when shifting from 6th to 7th gear.

– Smooth shifting means less wear on the power line and the rest of the car.

– The fuel consumption of the I-Shift Dual Clutch is the same as that of the I-Shift.

– I-Shift Dual Clutch will be available in the new Volvo FH in addition to I-Shift and manual transmissions.
