Tips for protecting your car from the sun

Modern cars are designed to operate in all weather conditions. However, after a couple of hours in the sun, the air temperature in the passenger compartment rises to 50-60 degrees Celsius, and with regular overheating, the paintwork and covers burn out, the glue, fasteners, insulation on the electrical equipment melt, plastic begins to deform. At the same time, no factory options will save the car from overheating, for this additional materials and devices will be needed.

How UV rays affect a car

The sun's rays not only have a beneficial, but also a detrimental effect on the environment, on humans and on cars.

Car paintwork is also vulnerable. In the sun, the paint simply gradually fades away, losing its saturation and brightness properties. If you have to leave the car in the sun for several days, cover the body completely with a car cover.

To protect the paintwork from sunlight, experts advise applying protective compounds to the body, for example, anti-gravel film, etc. At every wash, wax the machine. Periodically, at least once every 2 months, it is recommended to lightly polish (without abrasives). There are other ways to protect the car from sunlight on it, more about them below.

Sun damage to the car: more

Interior overheating. The temperature in a car in hot weather in the sun easily reaches 60 degrees. This is of little use for all materials used in the interior - upholstery, glues, fasteners, insulation of electrical equipment. High temperature causes accelerated aging of materials, and this fact should be taken into account for those who are going to ride their car for more than one year.

Plastic will collapse. Direct rays of the bright sun lead to accelerated aging of some plastics. Parts made of such plastic may crack or deform over time. If you still have to leave the car in the heat in the sun, cover the windows with reflective sunshades, or better, cover the entire car with an awning. What it should be - this is the topic of a separate conversation.

Burn out outside. In the heat of the sun, some external components of the car may burn out. Modern colored plastics are quite resistant to sunlight, but nevertheless, with constant exposure to the sun, plastic elements of light blocks will decolorize faster than usual.

Tips for protecting your car from the sun

  • The best way to protect your car from the sun is not to expose it. Park in the shade whenever possible.
  • Use a traditional car cover.
  • Apply a protective wax to your car body. This will help you maintain the paint and look of your car for longer.
  • Do not wash the machine with excessively hot water.
