Winter is a difficult time for Polish drivers, especially for those who park their cars in the open. In addition to the hassle of winter operation, they must also be aware of the little things they are exposed to at this time of year.
According to the Road Traffic Law (Article 66 (1) (1) and (5)), a vehicle participating in road traffic must be equipped and maintained in such a way that its use does not endanger the safety of its movement. passengers or other road users, he violated the rules of the road and did not harm anyone. When driving, the driver must also have a sufficient field of vision and easy, convenient and safe use of steering, braking, signaling and road lighting devices while observing it.

For safety reasons, it is also necessary to clear the roof of snow, as in the event of sudden braking, it can get on the windshield, which will make it difficult to continue driving the car. – The winter period favors an increased number of collisions and other accidents on the roads. That is why it is so important to properly prepare not only the roads, but also the car we drive,” explains Małgorzata Slodovnik, Sales Manager at Flotis.pl. “Among other things, be aware that snow left on the roof of a vehicle can blow onto the windshield, thus limiting visibility, or simply land on the windshield of the car following us,” adds Slodovnik.
A car without snow will definitely not escape the attention of a police patrol, which can punish the driver with a fine, for example, for illegible license plates. In this case, the driver's account may have 3 demerit points. It is also important that a fine of PLN 20 to PLN 500 is provided for non-removal of snow. It should also be remembered that the police have the right to stop the car for inspection and order it to be cleared of snow or ice.
To avoid unpleasant consequences and damage to the wallet, it is worth getting up 15 minutes earlier and getting the car ready for the road. This greatly improves the safety of both the driver and other road users. When removing snow from the car, you should also remember that you should not leave the car with the engine running for more than 60 seconds. Otherwise, the police or municipal police may impose a fine on the driver.
