23.1
Towing should be carried out by a power-driven vehicle without a trailer and with technically sound towing devices for both the towed vehicle and the towed one.
Starting the engine using a rigid or flexible coupling must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of this section.
It is allowed to tow one motor vehicle with only one trailer.
23.2
Towing of vehicles is carried out:
| a) | using rigid or flexible coupling; |
| b) | with partial loading of the towed vehicle on a platform or on a special supporting device. |
23.3
A rigid hitch should provide a distance between vehicles of no more than 4 m, a flexible one - within 4 - 6 m. A flexible hitch every meter is indicated by signal boards or flags in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 30.5 of these Rules (with the exception of the use of a flexible hitch coated with reflective material) .
23.4
When towing a power-driven vehicle with a flexible hitch, the towed vehicle must have a working brake system and steering, and steering with a rigid hitch.
23.5
Towing a power-driven vehicle on a rigid or flexible hitch should be carried out only if the driver is behind the wheel of the towed vehicle (unless the rigid hitch design provides the towed vehicle with a repetition of the trajectory of the towed vehicle regardless of the amount of rotation).
23.6
Towing a non-mechanical vehicle should only be carried out on a rigid hitch, provided that its design provides the towed vehicle with a repetition of the trajectory of the towed vehicle regardless of the amount of rotation.
23.7
A power-driven vehicle with inactive steering shall be towed in accordance with the requirements of subparagraph “b” of paragraph 23.2 of this Regulation.
23.8
Before towing starts, drivers of power-driven vehicles must agree on the signaling procedure, in particular for stopping vehicles.
23.9
During towing on a rigid or flexible hitch, it is prohibited to carry passengers in a towed vehicle (except for a passenger car) and in the body of a towing truck, and in case of towing by partial loading of this vehicle on a platform or a special support device - in all vehicles (except for the cab of the towing vehicle). vehicle).
23.10
Towing is prohibited:
| a) | if the actual mass of the towed vehicle with a faulty brake system (or in its absence) exceeds half the actual mass of the towed vehicle; |
| b) | on a flexible hitch during sleet; |
| at) | if the total length of coupled vehicles exceeds 22 m (route vehicles - 30 m); |
| d) | motorcycles without a side trailer, as well as such motorcycles, mopeds or bicycles; |
| e) | more than one vehicle (unless the towing procedure for two or more vehicles is agreed with the authorized unit of the National Police) or a vehicle with a trailer; |
| d) | by buses. |
23.11
The operation of the composition of vehicles consisting of a car, tractor or other tractor and trailer is allowed only if the trailer matches the tractor and the requirements for their operation are met, and the composition of vehicles consisting of a bus and trailer, also if there is a towing device installed by the factory manufacturer.
