The beauty care, of course, made it more original than the old model.

Technically, this is confirmation: all-wheel drive “real time”he prefers to drive on the road, not off-road, but, on the other hand, Emissionse consumptionthey are reduced.

Standard equipment is complete and the performance of the 2.2-horsepower 150 i-DTEC is sufficient.

The price is not low, but there are three years of warranty.

Home

The first version, presented in the mid-nineties, was truly groundbreaking.

Prior to this, SUVs were mostly Spartan or uncomfortable, while CR-V it combined the advantages of increased suspension and four-wheel drive with the comfort and control of a sedan.

Even today, sports utilities are a winning "fashion" in the automotive market, but this Honda hasn't always delivered the expected success.

This is due to the square and hard-to-recognize shapes, characteristics that are completely unrelated to the new model, the fourth evolution of this SUV antelite.

The nose section is streamlined, almost sporty, with a radiator grille with three horizontal elements and groups of LED lights.

The rear is more muscular, almost disproportionate due to the large vertical headlights and a small sloping rear window.

It is therefore impossible not to notice the boom-shaped design of the rear side windows as well as the black plastic underbody trims.

Dimensions have remained virtually unchanged (the new CR-V is 457 centimeters long, 182 centimeters wide and 169 centimeters high), while interior space, load capacity and attention to safety are growing.

city

When you run over the cobblestones in such a bulky vehicle, the city becomes a hostile habitat.

The width of the car from mirror to mirror over two meters actually gets in the way on the narrowest streets, or when heavy traffic or pedestrians cross the sidewalk into the carriageway.

On the other hand, a 2.2 turbodiesel with 150 hp. alive and ready: it helps to move easily. The CR-V quickly rushes into traffic lights, and then, once in the traffic, this engine does not "punish" us if we keep the gear ratio too high.

The advantage is the high torque (350 Nm in the range from 2.000 to 2.750 rpm), which allows you to move even in fourth gear at speeds below 50 km / h.

Consumption is sensitive thanks to the queues, but during stops the Stop & Start system (standard) helps to avoid wasting fuel.

The equipment is complete with parking sensors (both front and rear) and a rear view camera, useful accessories for using the maneuvering space to the last centimeter.

Finally, nothing interferes with the suspension: pits, tracks, bumps and boulders passed under us, without disturbing the ride comfort at all.

Outside the city

The bow of the CR-V quickly points to a smooth, winding road: the perfect spot to test this Japanese character.

Cornering is smooth, not very fast due to the reduced steering, but thanks to the solid front, the support arrives quickly and safely.

The steering is a bit condescending because, despite the artificial response from the electric command, the intensity of the intervention varies with speed.

The engine also behaves very well: there is enough torque, and with a six-speed gearbox, you can always choose the most suitable gear ratio.

Consumption drops sharply compared to the city: on average, you drive 15 km / l, but this could be more, following the recommendations of the Eco Assist system (the dashboard turns green when driving is more environmentally friendly) and the gear shift indicator.

The comfort and noise in the cabin is like that of a sedan, you don't notice the unevenness of the asphalt and even aerodynamic rustles.

The efficiency of the all-wheel drive with electronically controlled transfer case shows both ups and downs: there is no traction on snowy or slippery surfaces, but if you want to leave the asphalt off-road, the system can fail. when the wheels tend to stay off the ground; or when the bottom is soft and pliable.

шосе

When the CR-V's speedometer hits 130 km / h, it's easy to expect a promotion with flying colors.

With 150 horsepower, the desired speed is reached in the blink of an eye, and all that remains is to activate the adaptive cruise control: it not only maintains cruising speed, but also "reads" the position of the vehicle in front and remains at a safe distance.

CR-V brakes and accelerates on its own: nothing new, but Japanese it does it well, keeping the driver safe.

It is also easy to follow the road, because if you change lanes without inserting an arrow, LKAS “draws” the driver's attention and prompts you to get back on track after a slight turn in the right direction. An important remedy against distractions.

And then road stability is never compromised: thanks in part to excellent suspension calibration and standard 18-inch tires.

Quite good acoustic comfort, as well as fuel consumption: in sixth gear, you drive more than 14 km with a liter of diesel fuel, but without going beyond the limits established by the Code.

Life on board

Whatever you want to use, from chores to family fun, the CR-V will provide comfort and safety for all passengers.

There is a lot of space on board and even when traveling in five there is no shortage of centimeters in height and even in width.

The executive set of our test (the richest) has elegant soft leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the passenger compartment is well lit by a panoramic glass roof (which can be covered with a curtain anyway). ...

Soundproofing is excellent and the suspension does its job well, dispelling the asphalt imperfections without passing them on board.

The dashboard, modern and elegant, is made of good quality plastic, pleasant to the touch.

Pleasant brushed aluminum molding that crosses the console and ends in front of the passenger: creates a sense of order and symmetry.

The choice of positioning the gearbox at the top, closer to the driver, is also commendable: it makes driving more relaxed and frees up a lot of space in the tunnel, which actually contains useful storage compartments.

Less relaxing is using (too many) steering wheel controls, which include numerous functions (from trip computer to cruise control, from radio to Bluetooth hands-free).

The trunk is roomy enough, the sofa turns over without difficult and tedious maneuvers.

Price and costs

In Honda's tradition, the CR-V is also available in several complete and hard-to-customize configurations.

The Executive model in our test costs 37.200 euros and has everything you need and more.

The tested model is equipped with the latest generation active safety devices (grouped under the abbreviation ADAS) and a navigator.

However, it should be noted that, at least for now, in order to have these helpful driving aids and an integrated GPS with DVD player, you need to upgrade to the automatic transmission option, which costs 43.500 euros.

An important figure at risk of severe devaluation.

To offset some of the cost, Honda offers a three-year warranty, one more than legally required.

Consumption can also be categorized as “non-hazardous” by home bills.

safety

The Japanese manufacturer has always invested in technological innovation and the new CR-V represents the pinnacle of this research evolution.

The versatile and affordable Japanese SUV allows you to get (almost) anywhere with just the right amount.

The behavior on the road is not difficult, even if the rear part reacts nervously after stress, and the ESP is triggered with some delay.

Stability control is set to wide. However, we are talking about extreme movement that goes far beyond the usual routine between home and office.

The HSA is useful, which prevents you from retreating at the start from the hill.

Those who “live” on the motorways will appreciate Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which adjusts the speed based on the vehicle ahead, keeping a safe distance at all times.

You can count on LKAS and CMBS to be careful not to be distracted: the former detects an accidental lane jump and suggests correct steering wheel maneuver, the latter automatically warns against braking when there is a risk of a rear-end collision.

All of these functions installed in this pre-production version are actually only available in the automatic transmission version.

In the event of a collision, there are six airbags and whip-protected head restraints.

The headlights are equipped with front daytime running lights.

In addition, there is an automatic high beam when driving in the dark, to always have the best possible illumination.
