Do-it-yourself engine oil change, frequency
Almost the most regular action when operating a car is engine oil change... The procedure is not complicated and takes a little time, up to about 30 minutes.
For an independent oil change, you will need a new oil filter and a gasket for it, it is also advisable to purchase a new washer for the bolt through which the oil is drained (see the photo in the algorithm) in order to avoid leaks, and of course a sufficient amount of new oil.
How to change the engine oil yourself?
- We unscrew the drain plug located at the bottom of the engine (see photo). For convenience, the oil change process is best carried out on a flyover, a lift or in a garage with a pit. Next, the oil will start pouring, we substitute the container. Do not forget to unscrew the oil cap on the engine (in the engine compartment). We are waiting for 10-15 minutes until all the old oil drains.

- then you need to unscrew the oil filter, this can be done using a special key (see photo). Be sure to check that the old filter gasket does not remain on the engine. Now we take a new filter, add some oil to it and lubricate the new gasket with new, clean oil. We twist the oil filter back.

- now it remains to screw the drain plug back (replacing the washer or bolt gasket) and add new oil to the engine in the required amount.
Remarks! The oil change must be carried out with the engine warmed up to operating temperature so that the old oil drains out of the engine as much as possible when it is warmed up.
After the whole process, start the car and let the engine run for a while before driving.
Engine oil change intervals
Automotive manufacturers of different brands recommend changing the engine oil from 10 to 000 km. But taking into account the quality of gasoline and other factors, it is better to change the oil in the engine every 20 km, depending on the operation of the engine. The most loyal mode for the motor is driving at constant, rarely changing speeds, that is, on the highway. Accordingly, the most destructive regime is city traffic.
Stick to regular oil changes every 10 km. and you are more likely to keep your engine in good condition.
