Choosing a car repair tool kit

I think that every car owner who repairs his car on his own is thinking about buying a set of tools, or already has something similar. Since recently I have been disassembling cars and reselling them for parts, I cannot do without a decent tool.

It was about a year ago when I decided to buy my first set of tools. From what was offered in car markets and in stores, there were the following manufacturers:

  • Strength
  • KingToni
  • Matrix
  • Ombre
  • Jonnesway

There were, of course, other companies, but I had heard little about them and in practice I did not have to deal with them. Now I want to talk about what tools I used before and where I stopped this time.

So the manufacturer Strength quite famous and can be found almost in a crowded car shop, but according to many of its owners, the quality of the tool has become worse over time than before. People especially complained about the awful quality of bits and screwdrivers. Personally, I did not have to work with these keys a lot, but there have been too many negative reviews lately and they pushed me away from the purchase.

About KingToni I can't say anything definite, since there was no practice with him at all. But according to Matrix only negative impressions remained. These apply to both screwdrivers, pliers and even open-end wrenches. Their quality is far from ideal. The surfaces of the pliers lick off very quickly, the screwdrivers also run quite a bit, so I also refused this purchase.

Now I want to say a few words about Jonnesway sets. The company manufactures its instrument in Taiwan, and as you know, the vast majority of all high-quality things are made there. Regarding the tool, I can’t say a word in a bad way, since I had to use these keys for more than a year (I will write about this set a little later) and there was not a single breakdown of the key and other components. One gets the impression that it is simply impossible to break these keys. At that moment, the price of the Jonnesway kit was too high for me and so I chose another company.

Ombre is a professional tool, also made in Taiwan, but oddly enough it is much cheaper than its competitors of the same quality. When I was still choosing these keys, I knew nothing about the quality, since there were practically no reviews on the Internet. But after more than a year of using the Ombra kit in practice, I am completely convinced that this is probably the best value for money.

Maybe I missed something, but I brought the main content in my list. I want to summarize: the period of using the tool is more than a year, I broke one bit when unscrewing the door locks. Otherwise, everything remained in almost perfect condition. During all this time, he dismantled more than 5 cars, tore off the nuts, broke the bolts, but the keys remained unharmed. The price of such a set is about 7 rubles, which is very cheap in comparison with similar suitcases.
