Mercedes' second electric SUV to drive 700 km

Mercedes-Benz continues to develop its fleet of electric models, which will include a larger crossover. It will be called EQE. Test prototypes of the model were uncovered during testing in Germany, and Auto Express has revealed details of the second current crossover in the brand's lineup.

Mercedes' ambition is to have electric cars of all categories. The first of these has already been launched on the market - the EQC crossover, which is an alternative to the GLC, and after it (before the end of the year) the compact EQA and EQB will appear. The company is also working on a luxury electric sedan, the EQS, which will not be an electric version of the S-Class but a completely separate model.

As for EQE, its premiere is scheduled no earlier than 2023. Despite the serious disguise of the test prototypes, it is clear that the model's LED headlights merge with the grille. You can also see the increased size compared to the EQC, thanks to the larger front cover and wheelbase.

The future EQE is built on Mercedes-Benz's modular MEA platform, which is set to debut in the EQS sedan next year. This is also the main difference between the EQC crossover, as it uses a redesigned version of the current GLC architecture. The new chassis allows more space in the structure and therefore offers a wide range of batteries and electric motors.

Thanks to this, the SUV will be available in versions from EQE 300 to EQE 600. The most powerful of them will receive a 100 kW / h battery capable of providing 700 km of mileage on a single charge. Thanks to this platform, the electric SUV will also receive a fast charging system up to 350 kW. It will charge up to 80% of the battery in just 20 minutes.
