An all-terrain variation of the Atlas model will enter the market under the name Basecamp. The Atlas Basecamp concept was unveiled to the public at the 2019 New York Auto Show.

Volkswagen has set itself the goal of developing Atlas with improved off-road performance. The 7-seater crossover will be able to overcome serious obstacles on the way, while providing comfort to the driver and passengers. Tuning studio from the United States APR will take part in the creation of the novelty.

Atlas Basecamp will have a matte gray body with orange original accents. A distinctive feature of the model is the LED panel on the roof. Choosing wheels, the creators preferred the fifteen52 Traverse MX Concept model, equipped with off-road tires.

The engine has not changed. Like the regular Atlas, the all-terrain version will be equipped with a 6-liter VR3,6 unit with 280 hp. The motor is paired with an automatic transmission in eight steps. Also under the hood, the car has 4Motion all-wheel drive. Also, the car will be equipped with a new multimedia system, "at the head" of which will be an 8-inch display. Cars are equipped with the latest driver assistance systems. The transmission will probably be replaced, but there is no exact information regarding this point.

Presumably, the new Atlas will go on sale in 2021. The presentation of the all-terrain vehicle should be expected towards the end of 2020.
