In short: Audi Q5 2.0 TDI pure diesel (140 kW) Quattro

Gone are the days when only brand was important for buying a car. Of course, this is largely due to the fact that today there is much more choice, especially among different models of cars of each brand. As a result, more body options and vehicle classes are available. Interestingly, the cars of each brand can be about the same good, but the sales are completely different. It can be good limousines, sports coupes and, of course, caravans, but crossovers are a class in their own right. Even on Audi! However, when you get into the Q5 and drive with it, it quickly seeps into your skin and it becomes crystal clear why this is one of the most coveted premium crossovers.

Last year's facelift was followed by a major overhaul of Audi's engines, which of course have been upgraded to meet EU 6 environmental standards. That means better fuel economy and lower emissions, not less power than many might think. Before the update, the two-liter turbodiesel engine was upgraded to a more powerful version of 130 kilowatts and 177 "horsepower", and now it offers 140 kilowatts or 190 "horsepower" labeled "clean diesel". At the same time, it is on average 0,4 liters more economical and also emits an average of 10 g/km less CO2 into the atmosphere. And the capacity?

It accelerates from standstill to 100 seconds 0,6 seconds faster and has a top speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

Unfortunately, every renovation brings a new, higher price. The Audi Q5 is no exception, but the price difference between the two versions is only 470 euros, which, with all the improvements mentioned, seems ridiculously small. It is clear that even the base price of this car is not low, let alone a test one. But if you hate it, let me give you a hint that the Q5 was and remains the best-selling Audi. It's just a success story, even if it may seem (too) expensive to some.

However, when you put it next to the competition, when you find that it rides above average and offers above average comfort, the price is not so important, at least for the buyer who wants to pay that much money for a car. You give a lot, but you also receive a lot. The Audi Q5 is one of those crossovers that doesn't differ too much from the average sedan in terms of driving, cornering, positioning and comfort. Bigger isn't always better, and the problem with hybrids is, of course, size and weight. You can't avoid physics, but you can make the car have as few problems as possible.

Thus, the Audi Q5 is one of the few that offers all and more: the reliability and roominess of a crossover, as well as the performance and comfort of a sedan. Add to this an attractive design, a good engine, one of the best automatic transmissions, and quality and precision workmanship, then there is no doubt that the buyer knows what he is paying for. Here we can only note that we envy him. He doesn't pay, he goes.

evaluation

  • It is a mistake to assume that all more expensive cars (or premium cars, as we call them) are equally good. There are even fewer equally good crossovers, where the line between a crossover and an ordinary heavy van is very thin, and many people inadvertently cross it. However, there are very few such crossovers that do not leave offense even among fans of ordinary cars, they drive almost as well, and at the same time look great. However, they do not consume much fuel and do not harm the environment. The Audi Q5 is everything. And why it sells so well is quite clear.
