Three mistakes when warming up the car in winter

With the onset of winter cold, car owners who spend the night in open parking lots and in front of their homes face big trouble. Starting the engine, warming up the passenger compartment and clearing snow from the car can easily replace morning exercises. It is during this period of the year that cracks appear on the windshield of many cars, and insufficiently heated transmissions fail. For this reason, experts decided to recall the three main mistakes that drivers make when warming up the car in winter.

1. Turning on the heating at maximum power. This is the most common mistake. Usually, immediately after starting the engine, the driver turns on the ventilation, but the engine is cold and icy air enters the cab. As a result, the interior of the car remains cold and the engine takes much longer to warm up. It is recommended to let the engine idle for 2-3 minutes and then turn on the heating at a lower power.

2. Direct a stream of hot air towards the windshield. It is this error that leads to the appearance of cracks on the windshield. A sharp stream of warm air on a frozen windshield creates a significant temperature difference, the glass does not withstand and cracks. It is recommended to carry out this procedure gradually so that the glass melts slowly.

3. Fast driving with a cold engine. Modern injection vehicles do not require long warm-ups, but this does not mean that, getting into the car in the morning and starting the engine, you need to start and drive quickly. Overloading backfires on a cold engine and transmission. In the first minutes, it is recommended to drive at low speed and not to load the engine and transmission. Only after all the components of the car are fully warmed up, you can drive it as you are used to.
