There are nine paint options for the car, three of them are two-tone. From 22 August subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor is taking orders for the front-wheel-drive Toyota Urban Cruiser crossover. As expected, the model for the Indian market is a clone of the Maruti SUV Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It will receive the same naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1.5 K15B (105 hp, 138 Nm), a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Combined with the new internal combustion engine, it boasts an integrated ISG starter motor and a small lithium-ion battery. Alas, a mild hybrid is not friendly with a manual transmission, although such a possibility is unofficially talked about.
Buyers are offered nine color options for the car, three of them are two-tone: basic orange with a white roof, brown with black, or blue with black.
Neither the technique nor the interior have undergone any changes. A Toyota badged car doesn't even boast of its own steering wheel and wheels: here they are the same as those of the Suzuki, except for the nameplates.
Most of the visual differences between Toyota and Suzuki are in the front. Urban has original front bumpers and a radiator grill. Toyota also doesn't cling to equipment choices, which is pretty decent for a budget model. As such, automatic air conditioning is included in all performance levels of the base Cruiser. The crossover optics are fully LED: these are two-piece floodlights, daytime running lights, fog lights, turn signals and a third brake.
The first generation Urban Cruiser was produced from 2008 to 2014. It has been modified for the European market and features a black plastic body kit, a variant of the Toyota Ist / Scion xD hatchback. The car with a length of 3930 mm was equipped with a 1.3 petrol engine with 99 hp. or turbo diesel 1.4 with 90 hp. They were accompanied by a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. It was also possible to purchase a twin transmission for the diesel engine.
All versions of the car have an engine start button and keyless entry to the salon. In addition, depending on the configuration, the owner can get a rain sensor and an electrochromic rear-view mirror in the car, a Smart Playcast multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay interfaces, and cruise control. Inside, Toyota has two-tone upholstery with gray dashboards and door panels, and the seats are dark brown. Pricing has not yet been announced. We assume the Urban Cruiser will cost slightly more than its Vitara Brezza (from Rs 734, almost € 000). The new car will have to compete with such crossovers as Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet и Nissan Magnite.
