Toyota's big sedan returns to the Old Continent. First impressions
19 million is the number of cars Toyota has sold this model in the last 37 years since its introduction in 1982. For comparison, it takes VW 21,5 years to sell 58 million cars from the legendary "turtle".
The main contribution to this impressive success of the Camry comes from its sales primarily in North America, more specifically in the United States. In Europe, Toyota's largest sedan has been the Avensis over the past 15 years.
All the while, the cars have continued to be hot cakes with Americans - this model has been a common sight on the roads there since the 80s and has been one of the top selling models for most of its US production in general.
Today, about half of the Camry's annual production (about 700 vehicles) is purchased by American buyers. If you need to answer why this model has become so popular, the answer is quite simple - because from the very beginning it surprisingly combines the best values of Toyota, such as exceptional reliability, meticulous craftsmanship and proximity to advanced technologies.
Return to the Old Continent
Now, to the delight of many, the latest version of this legendary model is returning to Europe. The first impression of the car is more than pleasant - the sedan with a length of 4,89 meters looks like a sophisticated Japanese and American representative at the same time.
The chrome trim is carefully focused only on key design details of the vehicle and in no way makes the Camry obtrusively shiny. The body lines are smooth and calm, the silhouette is elegantly elongated.
Beneath the large rear lid is a bulky 524-litre trunk, unlike many other hybrids where the battery eats up a significant portion of the cargo space. However, here you can easily place everything you need for a family holiday.
