Grille test: Peugeot 308 SW 1.6 BlueHDi 120 EAT6 Allure
The 308 station wagon is a pretty successful story for Peugeot, as they managed to maintain good market relations despite the crazy growth in sales of crossovers. It is mainly chosen by customers from the C market segment, who prefer more intensive use and usually travel several kilometers.
When viewed from the side, the additional 11 centimeters of the wheelbase does not spoil the overall appearance, since the car retains a rather compact appearance, despite the characteristic "backpack". The tailgate can be quite heavy until it grabs the hydraulic lever, and what appears to be commendable. A beautifully proportioned 660 liters of luggage compartment with a fairly low loading edge, double bottom, track boxes and the ability to lower the rear seat directly from the trunk. This gives us more than a thousand liters of additional space and a completely flat boot floor. Recall that Peugeot once practiced installing individual seats in station wagon versions, which were otherwise more comfortable in terms of the luggage compartment, but somewhat inconvenient to use. They have now returned to the classic 60:40 split bench.
In this case, they may have reverted to somewhat more traditional methods, but this is by no means the case with security updates. The upgraded 308 now features emergency braking, lane departure warning, a 360-degree camera (with slightly poor camera resolution), and cruise control with a speed limiter. The space around the driver remains unchanged - that is, with a small steering wheel and a view of the meters above it. Obviously, this is a decision that Peugeot intends to continue to defend, despite widely differing opinions.
The four-cylinder turbodiesel in the nose has not changed much either, it just became noticeably quieter, but due to better soundproofing of the passenger compartment. 120 "horsepower" offers decent acceleration and respectable catching up to normal traffic, but consumption should not exceed six liters, which is encouraging.
Such a Peugeot could also find its way to buyers at a fairly competitive price. Despite the highest Allure equipment package and numerous accessories from the list of additional equipment, the price of the test model was a good 22 thousand rubles. If you assembled it yourself, you might prefer to install an automatic transmission for the price of a panoramic roof. We think he would have done a great job.
