Test: Škoda Octavia Combi 1.6 TDI CR DPF (77 kW) Greenline

New 1,6-liter engine TDI anxiety Volkswagen really helpful. But it is also economical and therefore forms the basis of a special model. Green Line... The label, of course, means that this is Škoda's economical and environmentally friendly offer.

In our test, it turned out that the direction is correct and we get a suitable offer at a relatively reasonable price. However, it is also true that after the introduction of the new version of the Greenline, Škoda later added a Start-Stop system to it, which our test model did not yet have. Thus, at least in part, one should be wary of the impression of frugal driving.

Average consumption and therefore lower CO2 emissions could have been better in the test model, ours in the test was about 6,5 liters. Since at the time at least two-thirds of urban and suburban trips were accounted for, in our experience, the start-stop system is the one that would go a long way in reducing average consumption. Of course, a softer touch on the gas pedal can also help a lot, since in the meantime we got pretty close to moderate consumption - an average of 4,8 liters per 100 kilometers.

Otherwise it Octavia Combi a fairly common car on Slovenian roads, about which we have already written a lot in previous tests of the Autoshop. Let's just say it has a fairly respectable appearance, which has been commendable since the last renovation. The interior also caters to the family's usual transportation needs, especially in the front seats, and the taller ones after a long backseat ride are slightly less enthusiastic than those in both front seats. The trunk also makes a good impression, the same goes for the reasonable price possibility when selling a used car.

However, the damage, as with other VW Group brands, is caused by the lack of standard accessories that seem commonplace today, especially when it comes to package deals. It's true that a radio with CD and MP3 player and even an iPod docking station are included as standard.

But we are missing a serial, or at least an affordable hands-free connection that would actively help reduce the number of people who will be driving on Slovenian roads with a mobile phone in hand. Yes, well: it's true that instead you get alloy wheels for a prettier look ...
