Always on the move: mobility solutions today and tomorrow

Powerful electronic architecture for future automotive computers. The proliferation of electrification, automation and connectivity places increasingly high demands on the automotive electronics architecture. New high-performance control units are a key element for cars of the future. By the beginning of the next decade, Bosch automotive computers will increase the computing power of cars by 1000 times. The company already produces such computers for automated driving, for movement and integration of infotainment systems and driver assistance functions.

Live – electric mobility services: Bosch battery in the Cloud extends battery life in electric vehicles. Intelligent software features analyze battery health based on real data from the vehicle and its environment. The app recognizes battery stressors such as high-speed charging. Based on the collected data, the software provides anti-cell aging measures, such as an optimized charging process that reduces battery wear. Convenient charging – Bosch's integrated charging and navigation solution accurately predicts mileage, plans stopping routes for convenient charging and payment.

Long distance electromobility with fuel cell system: Mobile fuel cells provide long range, fast charging and emission-free operation - powered by renewable hydrogen. Bosch plans to launch a fuel cell package developed in collaboration with Swedish company Powercell. In addition to the fuel cells that convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, Bosch is also developing all the major components of the fuel cell system for the production-ready stage.

Life Saving Products - Help Connect: People involved in an accident need immediate help - whether it's at home, on a bike, while playing sports, in a car or on a motorcycle. With Help Connect, Bosch offers a guardian angel for all occasions. The smartphone app provides information about the accident to the rescue services through the Bosch Service Centers. The solution should be able to automatically detect accidents using smartphone sensors or vehicle assistance systems. To this end, Bosch has added an intelligent acceleration sensor algorithm to its MSC stability control system. If the sensors detect a crash, they report a crash to the application, which immediately starts the recovery process. Once registered, the rescue app can be activated anytime, anywhere – automatically via connected devices or with the click of a button.

In development: solutions for today's and tomorrow's plants

Nexeed – More transparency and efficiency in production and logistics: The industrial application Nexeed for Industry 4.0 provides all process data for production and logistics in a standardized format and highlights the potential for optimization. This system has already helped a number of Bosch plants increase their efficiency by up to 25%. Logistics can also be optimized with Nexeed Track and Trace: the app tracks shipments and vehicles by instructing sensors and gateways to regularly report their location and status to the cloud. This means logistics and planners always know where their pallets and raw materials are and whether they will arrive at their destination on time.

Fast delivery of the necessary spare parts by visual identification of objects: in industrial production, when the machine fails, the whole process can stop. Fast delivery of the right parts saves time and money. Visual recognition of objects can help: the user takes a picture of the faulty element from his smartphone and using the application immediately identifies the corresponding spare part. At the heart of this process is a neural network trained to recognize a wide range of images. Bosch designed this system to cover all stages of the process: recording a photo of a spare part, a network training algorithm using visual data, and all communications in the application.

Sensitive robots - AMIRA research project: intelligent industrial robots will play an important role in the production of the factories of the future. The AMIRA research project uses machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to train robots to perform complex tasks that require great dexterity and sensitivity.

Always in touch: construction and infrastructure solutions

Highly efficient clean energy supply with stationary fuel cells: For Bosch, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) play an important role in ensuring energy security and the flexibility of the power system. Suitable applications for this technology are small autonomous power plants in cities, factories, data centers and charging stations for electric vehicles. Bosch recently invested € 90 million in fuel cell expert Ceres Power, increasing its stake in the company to 18%.

Intelligent construction services: how can an office building make the best use of its space? When should an air conditioner be turned on at a specific location in a building? Do all lights work? Bosch Touch and Cloud Services provide answers to these questions. Based on building data, such as number of people in the building and air quality, these services support effective building management. Users can adjust the climate and lighting of the room to suit their needs to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption. In addition, real elevator status data makes planning and even forecasting maintenance and repairs easier, avoiding unforeseen downtime.

In the field: smart solutions for agricultural machinery and farms

NEVONEX Smart Agriculture Digital Ecosystem: NEVONEX is an open and manufacturer-independent ecosystem providing digital services for agricultural machinery, ensuring seamless communication between work processes and machines. It also serves as a platform where agricultural machinery and equipment suppliers can offer their services. These services are carried out directly with existing or new agricultural machinery, if they are equipped with a control unit with activated NEVONEX. Connecting sensors that are already built into or added to the machine opens up additional potential for optimizing the distribution of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides and for automating work processes.

A look at freshness, growth and time with intelligent sensor systems: Bosch integrated sensor systems help farmers to constantly monitor external influences and respond in a timely manner. With Deepfield Connect Field Monitoring, users get plant time and growth data directly on their smartphone. The Smart Irrigation system optimizes water consumption for olive cultivation. With connected sensors in the tank, the Deepfield Connect milk monitoring system measures the temperature of the milk, allowing dairy farmers and tanker drivers to take action before the milk spoils. Another intelligent sensor system is the Greenhouse Guardian, which detects all types of plant diseases at an early stage. Humidity and CO2 levels in the greenhouse are collected, processed in the Bosch IoT cloud using artificial intelligence, and the risk of infection is analyzed.
