Life is a bit cheaper at Honda, where the base Odyssey, which is a surprisingly good way to travel, costs around $38,000, but you can get a decent seven-seat SUV for as little as $30,000.
SUVs have been able to carry more than the standard five passengers for decades. Despite this, they still cannot carry as much as human carriers; usually it's a choice between accommodating seven or being able to take any luggage with you.
However, SUVs don't ring the same ominous "factory" bells as passenger transportation does.
Don't expect fantastic fuel economy
