Secret cars of the Soviet special services

Cars, which were given especially important tasks in Soviet times, are shrouded in myths, legends and speculation, some of which are true, others are not. Russian media have compiled a rating of five models most used by the Soviet secret services. These cars were produced in limited series, as a result of which only government officials had information about them.

ZIS-115

This is the most popular model among the secret services, created by order of Joseph Stalin, a copy of the Packard 180 Touring Sedan (1941). Each part of the car is marked with a separate number to avoid counterfeiting and technology leakage. The windows are 0,75 cm thick, multilayer, the body itself is armored. Visually, it looks more like the classic version of "Victory", but with a larger body and wheels. A total of 32 pieces were produced.

GAS M-20G

In second place is the GAZ M-20G, which is a secret version of Pobeda. The model was designed specifically for convoys of foreign government delegations. Produced about 100 pieces. Its main feature is a 90 hp engine. Thanks to him, the car accelerates to 130 km / h.

GAZ-23

Third place for GAZ-23. This vehicle is most commonly used by staff accompanying government delegations. A 5,5-liter engine with 195 hp is installed under the hood of the model. The trunk of the GAZ-23 can only be opened from the inside. The maximum speed is 170 km / h.

ZAZ-966

The penultimate position is occupied by ZAZ-966. The car has minimal dimensions, but it is equipped with a powerful unit, so it can reach speeds of up to 150 km / h. In addition, the "secret" ZAZ is equipped with two radiators, which is why it is always cool in the cabin.

GAZ-24

The rating is completed by the GAZ-24 model, the engine of which develops 150 horsepower. This car is capable of a maximum speed of 180 km / h. The model is also the first in the USSR to use an automatic transmission.
