Extended Test: Jeep Renegade // Anyway, Jeep, let's go to the field

As a fan of off-road riding motorcycles and cars, I certainly had to check how far the Renegade goes when the asphalt and hard rubble run out from under the wheels. I probably went further than anyone would dare to understand ...

On the road, the car is correct, fun, sits high, the engine is also sharp enough to drive the same way. How is it on the field? On rubble, even with large puddles and potholes, it rides surprisingly well, with large wheels and suspension designed with the thought that someday the bike will hit an unpleasant obstacle, something bigger than a curb or sidewalk. Road. Since its wheels are offset to the outer edges of both the front and rear, the exit and entry angles are favorable for off-road driving. Renegade overcomes obstacles without any problems. I still remember very well how he rode jumps, slides and steep slopes without damage at the Jeep Festival in Sentwid near Stichnawhere the motocross track was a good training ground.

As long as the grip is good, no mud, wet grass or leaves, the Renegade will impress, and with some off-road technical knowledge it will take you further than you dare think. But this Jeep, which I tested in an extended test, looks more like a cabin in both appearance and equipment. I'd prefer four-wheel drive instead of a piece of rich equipment that would otherwise spoil you with a great infotainment system, safety systems, large screen, leather, automatic transmission and chrome parts. Um, of course, yes, I know that, why is it known in advance Mopar for the field and would have assembled a less prestigious but more off-road toy.

Because he ran out of five-wheel drive on the field. Shortly after I drove up the hill on wet grass, the front wheels shifted to neutral and the holiday was over. However, it turned out where the substrate was dry.... So, along a narrow rocky trolley road, where it also turned out that the car is narrow and short enough not to be scratched by branches. With moderate throttle and some understanding of where to drive bikes and how to get over bumps, this Renegade shows true Jeep DNA lurking inside.

Maybe someone will cross and ask me for common sense when I landed in this jeep, but I still remembered a few tricks from those years when I was driving the Dakar off-road rally when I accompanied Miran Stanovnik.... Yeah, but let me remember to turn off the parking sensors for off-road driving, as they are very sensitive to the slightest obstacle, which is not the case. I mean mostly grasses and twigs. The rear view camera will definitely come in handy in the field, which I didn't have on Dakar.
