Advanced features for the keen driver

New features in the Porsche ROADS app: air quality and group travel. The free ROADS by Porsche app allows a global community of passionate drivers to discover, record and share the world's most beautiful driving routes. ROADS now has more features. Thanks to the collaboration with the American startup ClimaCell, users receive detailed information on the air quality on their route. ClimaCell specializes in hyperlocal and hypertoxic weather forecasting, using hundreds of millions of sensors worldwide to analyze weather and air quality. ROADS by Porsche uses a simple traffic light system to show the current pollution level along the route. This indication will allow drivers to decide whether to drive with windows open or open, and plan the best stops on the road based on the air quality at specific locations.

In addition, ROADS now offers its customers the ability to organize group rides. Thus, on the one hand, keen drivers can find like-minded people in the app. On the other hand, existing groups can get new members.

“ROADS is about getting more people to drive, whether it's a Porsche or another car. With the new "tours" feature, we are fulfilling our long-standing wish that our users can create collaborative tours with just a few clicks. Knowing the good air quality on the route, enthusiastic drivers can enjoy it even more consciously,” says Marco Brinkmann, founder of the ROADS platform from Porsche Digital Marketing.

“ClimaCell is delighted to be working with Porsche to ensure that such an important feature is built into the ROADS app. Knowing the quality of the air around us is important for making decisions about our health and we are excited to provide this to drivers around the world,” said Dan Slagen, CEO of ClimaCell.

The free ROADS app developed by Porsche offers every driver the right route. It has been around since 2019 and already has over 100000 community members in over 60 countries. The app is available for iOS devices in the App Store and supports Apple CarPlay.

The partnership between Porsche and ClimaCell was created under the StartUp Autobahn, the largest open innovation platform in Europe. It brings young tech and mobility startups into established companies. Porsche recently extended its partnership with the platform by another three years.
