Ample space, clean design, extremely efficient lighting and eco-friendly upholstery fabrics – the interior of the ID.4 offers a modern and comfortable atmosphere that brings out the pioneering nature of Volkswagen's first all-electric SUV to all the senses.

First impressions of the interior ID.4

The ID.4 is fast approaching its market launch, with plans for first deliveries to end users by the end of this year. In the future, the new Volkswagen ID.4 will become part of the rapidly growing compact SUV segment worldwide, and the production and sales prospects of the new electric SUV include not only Europe, but also China and then the United States. The interior of the new SUV shows a completely new character compared to comparable Volkswagen models with a conventional powertrain, as its interior space is much larger thanks to its significantly more compact dimensions and the efficient layout of the electric powertrain. The head of Volks-wagen Group Design, Klaus Zikiora, sums up the interior features of the multifunctional SUV model with the following short but meaningful formula - "freedom outside, free space inside." The design of the new model was developed by Zikiora's team when he was the chief designer of the Volkswagen brand. According to him, “ID.4 brings a whole new sense of space to this class with the new MEB platform – our modular architecture for electric models.”

Typical SUV - large doorways and pleasantly high seating position

Just getting into a new model is a real pleasure. ID.4 door handles are flush with the surface of the body and open with an electromechanical mechanism. The driver and passengers enter the cabin of the new model through large skylight doors and enjoy the comfort of high-seat seats, while the space in the shared rear seat is comparable to that of conventionally powered SUV models in the upper class. The same goes for the luggage compartment, which, with the rear seats upright, can offer an impressive 543 liters.

The ID.4 interior design emphasizes the feeling of spaciousness, free space and is similar to the style of the exterior of the new model, based on smooth and light lines and forms, emphasizing the main thing. The dashboard appears to float freely in space as it is not connected to the center console, designed as an independent component, while the large movable glass panoramic roof (optional), in turn, provides an unrestricted view of the sky. At night, the indirect interior lighting can be individually adjusted in an incredible range of 30 colors to create stunning light accents in the interior of the new model. Klaus Zikiora emphasizes that the overall concept of functional control and management is designed to provide the most logical and simple handling, and adds: "The fully intuitive control of the ID.4 brings new electric lightness to the crossover and SUV category."

Light bar ID. Lighting under the windshield is a completely new feature for all IDs. models. It can provide valuable assistance to the driver in a variety of driving situations with intuitive lights and color effects. For example, thanks to ID. The seats are extremely comfortable and completely devoid of animal materials with upholstery.

The front seats in the ID.4 are capable of both supporting dynamic driving and comfort on long journeys. In the limited edition ID.4 1ST Max1, with which the new model debuts on the German market, the seats are AGR certified, Aktion Gesunder Rücken eV (Initiative for Better Back Health), an independent German organization for medical orthopedists. They offer a variety of electrical adjustment and adjustment options, and the pneumatic lumbar supports have a built-in massage function. The fabrics used in the upholstery also emphasize the uniqueness of the cozy interior. The two future limited edition versions of the ID.4 use upholstery completely free of animal materials. Instead, the fabrics combine synthetic leather and ArtVelours microfiber, a recycled material that contains around 1% recycled PET bottles.

The interior of the limited editions ID.4 1ST 1 and ID.4 1ST Max is dominated by soft and sophisticated colors of Platinum Gray and Florence Brown. The steering wheel, steering column trim, center screen covers and door button panels are available in modern Piano Black or regular Electric White. The brighter color adds a futuristic accent to the interior of the new model and further enhances its clear and clean design.
