The Cayenne Diesel does not deny its DNA: it is agile in sporty driving and comfortable in everyday use. Build is excellent, and the 3.0-liter diesel is also quite mild in consumption. However, quality and brand come at a price, and when some options are added, the price goes up significantly.

La Porsche Cayenne it is the car that, just over twelve years ago, changed the face of the German car manufacturer, defying tradition and achieving great commercial success. In version DieselThe Cayenne is powered by an Audi-derived 3.0-liter V6 engine with 250 hp. and 580 Nm of torque in combination with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.

This latest generation is aesthetically cleaner and more mature, loses some of that 911 air carried over to the SUV, and definitely takes on a personality of its own, albeit always with unmistakable Porsche traits. The wheelbase of the car has increased by 4 cm, which gives an advantage in terms of habitability, while downshifts are no longer encountered.

city

It's hard to think about Cayenne pepper as a city car, given its size, but apart from the lack of tonnage in parking lots, it handles traffic just fine. The high seat provides excellent visibility and you can feel exactly where the vehicle starts and ends. Plus, with front and rear sensors and a rearview camera, the parking problem becomes just a matter of location. IN Tiptronic on March 8 makes driving really smooth: when the clutch is disengaged, it is always very smooth and gradual, but without the elastic effect inherent in transmissions with a torque variator of the old generation, and shifting in automatic mode is fast and without slipping. The V6 diesel engine is vibration-free, smooth and full of power, always providing enough torque to fire smoothly on the move. The data states that urban consumption is 7,6 liters per hundred kilometers.

Porsche Cayenne Diesel, our road test - Road test"His ability to hide mass is exemplary."

Outside the city

Even in with closed eyes you would understand that you were driving one Porsche. Little enough to realize how much every detail counts for driving pleasure, and the result that the Stuttgart engineers have achieved with this 2.185kg SUV is truly impressive. Just look at the cockpit from the car's perspective - with a small-diameter vertical steering wheel and aluminum paddles - and you'll know it's fun to drive. The steering is delightful: progressive, weight-appropriate and reasonably direct. It's incredible how accurate it is even at the smallest angles, and allows you to understand exactly what is happening under the wheels. That kind of precise steering would be wasted with a clunky, clunky chassis, but thankfully it isn't.

Our machine is equipped with Active air suspension PASM – an additional option from 1.586,00 euros, which allows you to change the setting, increasing comfort and responsiveness as desired. Three modes are available: Comfort, Sport and Sport+. In comfort mode, the car floats over bumps, but when cornering, it does not fall into annoying rolls. Switching to Sport mode makes the openings comical and the front end more reactive: on the road, it's the best option if you want to have some fun, as in Sport+ mode the car gets so stiff it's almost annoying.

Sport mode and manual transmission Cayenne pepper can only make you smile. Its ability to hide mass is exemplary, and the only time you remember driving a 5m SUV is when you brake hard.

Thefront is introduced rather quickly, and the back part obediently follows. If you're smart enough, you can safely play with the Cayenne as if it were a big sports compact, lightening the rear when released and painting black stripes with the rear wheels seeking traction. IN six cylinders Audi has good progress and nicely muffled sound, but when you start getting serious about it, you feel a lack of reach (at 3.500 rpm the game ends) and extra horsepower, and you realize the Cayenne chassis is built to withstand chivalry. ... much more generous.

Additionally, Speed, which performs well at medium speeds, has difficulty in sporty driving, especially when going uphill.

However, to appreciate its dynamic qualities, it is not necessary to drive a car with a knife between your teeth. Cayenne Diesel pleasant to drive even with a quiet ride. In addition, in the suburban cycle, we were able to easily overcome 14 km on a liter.

шосе

La Cayenne Diesel this is a great killer of kilometers. Rustle in motorway they are, but for a car one meter seventy high, they are really low, and the overall sound insulation is good. The eight gears are well spaced and the engine hums quietly in the octave at code speed. With a 100 liter tank (option at no extra charge), the range reaches almost a thousand kilometers.

Porsche Cayenne Diesel, our road test - Road test"Soft leather and plastics guarantee a solid feel that meets the standards of the House."

Life on board

On board both of them, he immediately felt as if he were sitting in cockpit much more compact than it actually is. There is plenty of room for both front and rear passengers, who can move the rear seat up to 16cm for extra space. IN a roof with a panoramic view (optional from 2.061,80 euros) makes the interior pleasantly airy and bright. The build is excellent, and the leather and soft plastics guarantee a solid feel that meets the House's standards.

In the central tunnel there is number of keys worthy of an airplane: it has both climate control and those that regulate the suspension and engine response, as well as, of course, an automatic gearshift lever. It is true that there has been a trend lately to bundle all the functions in the infotainment system, but in this case they seem to be exaggerated in the opposite direction and it takes some getting used to.

I materialsBut the performance is excellent: the leather is in good condition, the plastic is pleasant to the touch (albeit not very soft) and there are simply no squeaks, and the deflectors and handles are made of original aluminum.

Our sample is also equipped with an implant. BOSE® Surround Sound System, optionally from € 1.384,70, which is one of the best we have tried in terms of power and clear sound.

Price and costs

La Cayenne pepper this is certainly not cheap: price The diesel version costs 73.037 euros to launch, but it takes very little time to climb to 90.000 250. However, with XNUMX hp. you are exempt from super tax, and the engine, given the size to be moved, is quite economical in consumption.

Compared to competitors in this segment, it may not be the most technologically advanced or the most luxurious, but in terms of driving pleasure and image, it clearly wins.
