Purchase of a compression meter Jonnesway
Apart from my occupation with car dismantling, I also sometimes buy cheap variants of cars and resell them with a small mark-up. True, it is quite difficult to find such cars and there is a maximum of one suitable option for a month, but still it turns out slowly. So, when buying, you need to pay special attention to the engine and in order to assess at least approximately its condition, I decided to buy a compressor. Using this device, you can estimate how worn out the internal combustion engine is by measuring the pressure in the engine cylinders.
Since cars are different, with different threaded holes for spark plugs, a device was needed that could measure the compression on almost any power unit.
- First, there must be two fittings: with a flexible hose and with a tube (with a rubber tip at the end)
- Secondly, the flexible fitting should preferably have an adapter for both a 14 mm thread and an 18 mm one.
- Well, the measurement limit should be at least 20 atmospheres.
Of those manufacturers that interested me, I liked one option: Jonnesway AR020017, which had all the parameters that I needed.
For example, using a flexible fitting it was possible to check the compression in any domestic car with an 8-valve engine. And if it was necessary to diagnose a 16-valve motor, then this could be done using a metal tip, since its length is right next to it to get to the spark plug hole.
Using such a device is quite simple, I have already described the principle of its operation many times, for example, in an article on Compression measurement in a VAZ 2109 engine... After checking the compression of each cylinder, it is imperative to release the pressure with the button on the side of the inlet connection.
