Every year, Goodwood hosts a major world event - the celebration of speed. This year, the festival was to take place from 9 to 12 July. So far, the founders of this event have decided to postpone it from the planned dates to a later time.
Official source reports that alternative dates for late summer or early fall are being considered. There is currently no new schedule for organizing this event. The organizers promise that in a couple of weeks he will appear. Those who have already purchased festival tickets may not worry. They will be relevant at the time of the resumption of the event. No need to buy new ones.
Reasons for change
In 2020, the festival is under threat due to an outbreak of coronavirus infection. The owner of the estate, Goodwood House, on the territory of which the event was to take place, is the Duke of Richmond. He stated that the decision to postpone the event was difficult, but necessary, since it is completely impossible to foresee future situations of the spread of COVID-19. To date, no scientist or healthcare professional can predict the magnitude of the pandemic in July.
By tradition, in parallel to the Festival of Speed, an auction is held with the participation of rare cars. The organizer is Bonhams, an auction house in London. It will take place at the appointed time - July 9-12, 2020. However, the transactions will be carried out in a closed manner, but with an online broadcast.
Information about the transfer of the cult event is published on the official website festival organizers.
