Overtaking, advancing, oncoming drive

11.1.
Before starting overtaking, the driver must make sure that the lane to which he is going to leave is free at a sufficient distance to overtake and that during overtaking he will not create a danger to traffic and interference with other road users.

11.2.
The driver is not allowed to overtake in the following cases:

  • a vehicle moving in front, makes an overtaking or detour of an obstacle;

  • The vehicle moving ahead in the same lane gave a turn signal to the left;

  • the vehicle following it starts overtaking;

  • upon completion of overtaking, he will not be able to return to the previously occupied lane without creating a danger to traffic and interference to the vehicle being overtaken.

11.3.
The driver of the overtaken vehicle is prohibited from obstructing overtaking by increasing the speed of movement or by other actions.

11.4.
Overtaking prohibited:

  • at adjustable intersections, as well as at unregulated intersections when driving on a road other than the main one;

  • at pedestrian crossings;

  • at railway crossings and closer than 100 meters in front of them;

  • on bridges, overpasses, overpasses and under them, as well as in tunnels;

  • at the end of the climb, at dangerous corners and other areas with limited visibility.

11.5.
Advance of vehicles when crossing pedestrian crossings is carried out taking into account the requirements of paragraph 14.2 of the Rules.

11.6.
If outside settlements the overtaking or outrunning of a slow-moving vehicle, a large-sized vehicle or a vehicle moving at a speed not exceeding 30 km / h is difficult, the driver of such a vehicle should take it as far as possible to the right and, if necessary, stop to skip following vehicles.

11.7.
If the oncoming passage is difficult, the driver, on whose side there is an obstacle, must give way. If there is an obstacle on the slopes marked by signs 1.13 and 1.14, the driver of the vehicle moving downhill must give way.
