Initially, by 2014, 14 compact and mid-range models (11 Renault Group cars and 3 Nissan models) will be created on the CMF modular basis. Other models will follow later.
By the end of 2013, for example, the Nissan Rogue, the new Qashqai and the X-Trail will be on the market based on the CMF module. Renault expects Renault Espace, Scénic and the new Laguna by the end of 2014.
Consistent model cost reduction with CFM
The Renault-Nissan alliance expects, among other things, significant cost reductions. Thus, the Common Module Family-Modul should reduce the development costs of the model by 30-40%, and the partial cost of the entire Nissan plant, according to Renault, could fall by 20-30%.
The CMF module itself should not be viewed as a pure platform. In general, it consists of five segments: engine module and cab, front and rear segments, electrical and electronic architecture, which significantly expands the range of car models, where there is the possibility of interchangeable parts between models.
