Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 Premium

Murano is an island in our Adriatic Sea, too far for a Venetian gondolier but close enough for a taxi boat, an island that many Americans want to visit immensely. But there are also many Americans who would love to own a Nissan Murano, most likely because it doesn't seem to stick to any "mainstream" design trends yet looks harmonious, neat and interesting.

The Murano is clearly not the first large luxury SUV, its lead was taken by the Range Rover much earlier, but it is one of those that we often think of when the word is applied to cars of this type. Probably the first to sharpen the background of the word “prestigious” to the end and the farthest from the background of the word “SUV”. And he brings it all in his own way.

Therefore (and of course for the sake of the Americans and Japanese), for example, the rear seats are heated, the interior is covered with leather, pleasant to the touch, the Bose sound system, a smart key (it's a pity that it's not as smart as Renault, which does not require buttons to unlock and unlock) , but only the presence of a person with a key in his pocket) and an environment adapted for the driver.

Also very large, I would call them pressure gauges with interesting lighting, although perhaps bright red (indicators) and orange (scale border) is not the best color combination. In addition to the impression of luxury created by the feeling of spaciousness behind the wheel, it immediately reminds me of America and its vices.

The European is often at least more demanding in this respect. He will be pleased, because this unfortunate button for walking according to the on-board computer data is not located inside the sensors (like some Nissans), but on their outer (right) edge, and the fact that the button is single (movement in one direction). between the data) is not so strict, as some data is displayed in pairs, but it is easier for a person (read: faster) to find himself.

He is not at all bothered by the electric steering wheel adjustment, navigation buttons, telephone (Bluetooth) and audio controls also fall well under his fingers, and he will no doubt resent some of the things that European products have developed more intelligently. .

Why? Because here too, the automatic gear shifting is only for the driver's window, because lifting the sunroof also opens the blinds (how about strong sun?), Because some of the air conditioner button descriptions are not visible at all (but luckily people get used to the button functions quickly) because four of the six buttons at the bottom left of the dashboard are completely invisible to the driver (usually they cannot be relied on here) and because he has no audible parking assist.

It would be very convenient, especially with a body like this, but there is still some help: the rear camera helps a little, and the additional camera in the right outside mirror is especially commendable, which gives a good image around the right front wheel. ...

But let's assume that a neat beige interior with some dead browns, blacks, chrome and titanium boosts the driver and passengers' qi much more, even though it is this brightness that is causing the dirt quickly introduced.

Passengers of the second type, who do not have to kneel in the seats and have a large box, will also be happy, and anyone who loads things into the trunk will be happy, as its doors open and close electrically, and the Rear bench seats can also be folded with using the buttons in the trunk. And he will be happy to have a gentleman, whose lady will bring a bunch of bags from the market, the contents of which are then usually rolled on the floor, and here he can get stuck next to a conveniently designed idea in the trunk.

The mechanics are also meant to be fun. No, not for fast cornering, as the body leans heavily, and there are not enough seat supports on the sides (besides, they are leather, therefore slippery); From the very beginning, Murano has been inviting those who love a comfortable (and therefore a chassis that absorbs well all the pits and bumps), but, if necessary, a lively and fast car.

The engine is powerful enough, and the CVT automatic transmission (including the clutch) is also fast enough to start the Murano from a standstill and quickly accelerate to well above the speed limit.

The combination of automatic transmission and petrol engine is not particularly good in terms of consumption (test average is the result of significant acceleration), but with moderate driving in compliance with regulations, about 12 liters per 100 km is a value that seems likely.

It is difficult to determine the characteristics of engines combined with an automatic transmission, but we can definitely determine whether it is powerful enough or not. This one on Murano is such that one can only reproach him for being lazy on steep climbs, otherwise there are no comments on it.

The transmission is a typical CVT: so much gas, so many revs (and, unfortunately, also noise), and an additional sport program, if you exclude the insistence on higher revs when pressing the gas pedal and / or when going downhill, more or less unnecessary, so they didn't let us through.

From the city on this Murano you can drive on the clock, which is more important than for the race from and to the traffic light, which is important for a quick start when turning left or entering traffic. CVT also allows manual fixed gear shifting; then, especially at higher revs, it shifts nicely and quickly, and the rather long gear ratios are to blame for the Murano losing a little bit of vitality.

Although the engine spins up to 6.400 rpm even in manual mode (then the transmission automatically shifts up to a higher speed), this is not really a mechanic capable of maintaining an increased sportiness. The steering wheel is accurate enough, but as mentioned, the body tilts significantly, and the ESP responds quickly and abundantly at the slightest slip.

However, it is difficult to elaborate more about the drive, which is permanent or optional (for good conditions under the wheels and to save fuel) automatically connected all-wheel drive; in dry weather, as it was during the test, the mechanics and electronics remaining on the asphalt do not allow it to go to the edge, and the rubble is far from the environment suitable for the appearance and character of Murano.

Since the first presentation of Murano, a huge amount of water has flowed under the bridge from Mount Fuji, in the meantime, many such and different rivals were born, but Murano remains true to himself. Yes. Something special.
