I submit that the Micra is a completely lucky car. Starting with the name. Micra. Sounds pretty and cute. And the exterior: a bit like the old legendary Fiat 500, but unique enough to be recognized from afar. And the colors: I haven't seen those dull silver on the Micra yet; but they are cute, pastel, bright, "positive".

The typical customer is not a tech freak. That is, it does not expect direct injection, all-wheel drive with Thorsn, a five-link rear axle and similar techniques; that it is only decently comfortable. This is exactly what the Micra is. Technically, it is quite modern, so we cannot blame it for being outdated, and the driving experience is pleasant and light.

Things are where they should be, the driving is light, the roominess is satisfactory for this class of car, as it is important to know that among the direct competitors the Micra is among the smaller in terms of its external dimensions. Especially in length. This was partially solved with the help of a movable rear seat, but otherwise the space of the front seats and, possibly, the size and usability of the trunk are important in such cars. In both cases, the Micra doesn't disappoint. Vice versa.

The recent renovation has not brought significant innovations, which does not reduce its cost prior to purchase. Otherwise, the exterior mirrors are a bit too small, which is also the Micra's only complaint, but there is also a young, lively interior that doesn't “struggle” with usability or ergonomics. Once again: the smart key turned out to be really smart in the Micra, which means that it can remain somewhere in your pocket or wallet all the time you use this car.

It unlocks and locks with the push of rubber-protected buttons (there are five of them, one on each door - even the last one), and the engine is started by turning a button where you would otherwise expect the lock to work. Get started. In this class, the Micra is still the only one to offer this, and while it may seem over the top, it's also attractive to buy. To this must be added durable materials and excellent workmanship, which complete the very good impression made by the interior.

The engine in this Micra is really small in volume, but excellent. It allows leisurely or fun rides around the city, as well as (shorter) trips that travelers will not perceive as an Argonaut adventure. Even better is the transmission, with well-calculated gear ratios and, above all, excellent handling - lever movements are short and precise, and feedback when shifting into gear is also excellent. At the same time, the power steering feels too strong (i.e. too little resistance on the steering wheel), which is always a matter of taste, but the steering wheel is very precise and quite straight. In short: mechanics in the service of the driver.

Now let someone else say that Micra is not the most successful car (check it out). If you're avoiding it, there must be some economic reason for it (such as price), or it's all just a matter of bias. What Mikra is not to blame.

  • Micra is a great car for short trips, that is, as a second car in the family. Despite its small size (and five-door), it surprises even on long trips. In fact, he has very few "tazars" of flaws.
