Engine oil "Every day". Is it worth buying?

Features

It should be noted right away that Every Day engine oil is not a new independent brand that is produced at separate production facilities. The oil is produced by SintOil, a well-known Russian manufacturer of inexpensive lubricants, and bottled in canisters in the city of Obninsk, Kaluga Region. And the customer is the trading network "Auchan". This oil, by the way, can only be bought in stores of this network.

On the Internet, on a fairly authoritative resource, the results of laboratory tests of this oil are posted. When considering two varieties of Every Day oil (5W40 and 10W40), we will rely on the results of these studies. Firstly, the manufacturer on the canister does not indicate almost any information about the product, only general information. Secondly, there are reasons to doubt the authenticity of the values given on the container.

So, the main characteristics of engine oil "Every day".

  1. Base. The cheaper oil, 10W40, uses a refined, straight-distilled mineral base as the base. For the 5W40 product, a hydrocracking base was taken.
  2. Additive package. Based on spectral analysis performed by an independent laboratory, both use depleted ZDDP zinc-phosphorus additives, as well as calcium as a dispersant and a small amount of other standard components. Most likely, the additive package is Chevron's standard Oronite. The more expensive 5W40 oil has a small molybdenum content, which in theory will have a beneficial effect on the protective properties of the lubricant.
  3. Viscosity according to SAE. In the case of a more expensive oil, the viscosity fits into the standard and really corresponds to the 5W40 class, even with a good margin for the winter part of the index. But the winter viscosity of 10W40 oil is too high. According to the test results, this product is more suitable for the requirements of the 15W40 standard. That is, winter operation may be unsafe in regions where temperatures drop below -20 °C.

  1. API approval. Both products in question comply with the API SG/CD standard. A fairly low standard that imposes certain restrictions, which will be discussed below.
  2. Freezing temperature. 10W40 oil loses fluidity already at -25 ° C, and 5W40 successfully holds when cooled to -45 ° C.
  3. Flash point. This value is experimentally set for 5W40 oil and is +228 °C. This is a good indicator, average for lubricants based on hydrocracking products.

Separately, it is worth noting the sulfate ash content and the amount of sulfur. In the two oils "Every Day", these indicators in the study were lower than expected. That is, we can say that the oils are quite clean and are unlikely to form sludge deposits at a rate characteristic of lubricants of this level.

Application area

Mineral engine oil "Every Day" 10W40, judging by the characteristics, can only be successfully used in outdated engines with simple power systems (high-pressure fuel pump with mechanical nozzles or a carburetor). Despite the low sulfur content and low sulfate ash content, the oil is incompatible with catalytic converters or particulate filters. The presence of a turbine on a diesel engine does not prohibit the use of this oil, but it is not necessary to talk about its reliable protection.

The VAZ classic and the Samara generation fall into the above-described area of operation. Starting from the Kalina model, the use of this oil is not recommended. Also, "Every Day" with a viscosity of 10W40 can be poured into foreign cars from the middle and budget price segments with a production date before 1993.

More technologically advanced, semi-synthetic oil "Every Day" 5W40 is officially approved for operation in approximately the same conditions. However, laboratory tests show a very good composition, which means higher performance. Enthusiasts use it in cars from 2000 (and even higher) and assure that there are no problems with the motor, you just need to replace it more often. However, in this situation, filling such a budget oil is a very risky business.

Reviews

Reviews about engine oil "Every Day", despite the initially skeptical attitude towards lubricants of a domestic manufacturer, in general, have a positive trend.

Motorists are primarily attracted by the price. The average cost for 4 liters fluctuates around 500-600 rubles, depending on the current batch. That is, this oil is one of the most budgetary on the market in general.

At first, many drivers chuckled, thinking that for such little money nothing more or less usable could be in the canister. However, the experience of using daredevil pioneers and laboratory tests have shown that for its price this oil is not only suitable, but even competes with proven brands from the budget segment.

Oil with moderate operation of the car is not much spent on waste. With frequent replacement (every 5-7 thousand kilometers), it does not pollute the motor.

This oil also has one unconfirmed, but often mentioned drawback on the net: the quality of this product can vary quite a lot from batch to batch. Therefore, without fear, it can only be used in simple motors.
