The debut of the British-made MG 5 front-wheel drive hatchback took place at the Beijing Auto Show in the spring of 2012. The novelty is built on a platform from the MG 350, however, the design of the novelty is completely different from the soplatform one. A feature of the car is the long and sloping bonnet. It is noteworthy that the Asian and European models differ not only in appearance, but also in equipment and even in layout.

The new hatchback received a combined suspension. An independent double wishbone is installed in the front, and a transverse torsion beam is installed in the back. The braking system is completely disc.
