Maserati MC20: the brand's new sports supercar

• The MC20 heralds a new era for Maserati.
• The new Maserati super sports car is a worthy successor to the MC12.
• A car with racing DNA
• 100% Made in Modena and 100% Made in Italy

Maserati is entering a new era with the MC20, a new supercar that combines power, sportiness and luxury with Maserati's unique styling. The MC20 was unveiled to the world in Modena on September 9th during the MMXX: Time to Be Bold event.

The new MC20 (MC for Maserati Corse and 20 for 2020, the year of its world premiere and the beginning of a new era for the brand) is the Maserati everyone has been waiting for. This is a car with incredible aerodynamic efficiency, which hides a sporty spirit, with a new 630 hp Nettuno engine. 730 Nm of V6 engine that achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 2,9 seconds and a top speed of over 325 km / h. An engine that announces Maserati's return to the production of its own powertrains after more than 20 years break.

The MC20 is an extremely light vehicle, weighing less than 1500 kg (tare weight), and thanks to its 630 hp. it performs best in the weight/power class, at just 2,33 kg/hp. This record is achieved by using the highest quality materials, exploiting the full potential of carbon fiber without sacrificing comfort.

Nettuno, the first engine in this new chapter in the history of Trident, is the twin-turbo V6 engine, a technological gem housed in the MC20, already internationally patented for MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology, an innovative combustion system designed specifically for the world's road ...

This revolutionary project led to the creation of a car that embodies Italian excellence. In fact, the MC20 was developed in Modena and will be manufactured at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant, where Trident models have been produced for over 80 years. A new production line, set up in the premises where the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models were assembled by November 2019, is now ready for operation in the historic factory. The buildings also have a new painting workshop, including innovative, environmentally friendly technologies. The Nettuno will also be built in Modena, Maserati's newly established engine laboratory.

The design of the MC20 was pioneered over a period of approximately 24 months, with input from the outset by a team of engineers from the Maserati Innovation Lab, technicians from the Maserati Engine Lab and designers from the Maserati Style Center.

The dynamic development system for virtual vehicles, including the use of one of the most advanced dynamic simulators in the world, was developed by the Maserati Innovation Lab and is based on a complex mathematical model called Virtual Car. This method allows 97% of dynamic tests to be run, optimizing development time. The car has been modified in the best Maserati traditions with long sessions of driving on the highway and off-road in a variety of operating conditions.

The main design motive of the MC20 is the historic brand identity with all the elegance, performance and comfort integral to its genetic transformation. The emphasis on dynamic performance has led to the creation of a vehicle concept with a distinct personality, with unambiguous shapes that make it unique.

The upward-opening doors are not only stunningly beautiful, but also functional as they improve the vehicle's ergonomics and provide optimal access to and from the cab.
The aerodynamics are designed for nearly two thousand man-hours in the Dallar wind tunnel and over a thousand CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to create a true work of art. The result is an elegant line with no moving parts and only a discreet rear spoiler that improves downforce without detracting from the MC20's beauty. CX is even below 0,38.

The MC20 offers a choice of coupe and convertible, as well as full electric power.
When entering the cab, the driver is positioned so that nothing distracts him from sports driving. Each component has a purpose and is completely driver-focused. Simple shapes, very few sharp corners and minimal distractions. Two 10" screens, one for the cockpit and one for the Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC Plus MIA). Simplicity is also a key feature of the carbon fiber center console, with several features: a wireless smartphone charger, a driving mode selector (GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa and a fifth ESC Off that disables stabilization systems), two speed select buttons, power window control buttons, a multimedia system and a convenient storage compartment under the armrest. All other controls are on the steering wheel, with the ignition button on the left and the start button on the right.

The new MC20 will be permanently connected to the Maserati Connect system. The full range of services includes connected navigation, Alexa and Wi-Fi hotspot, and can also be controlled via a smartphone or the Maserati Connect SmartWatch app.

For the launch, Maserati also developed six new colors that characterize the MC20: Bianco Audace, Giallo Genio, Rosso Vincente, Blu Infinito, Nero Enigma and Grigio Mistero. Each one is created, designed and developed specifically for this vehicle, and each expresses important aspects: an exclusive reference to “Made in Italy”, Italian identity and land; and connect with the Maserati tradition.

Both visually and conceptually, there are strong nods to the MC12, the car that marked Maserati's return in 2004. Just like its predecessor, the MC20, with a distinctly racing soul that is hinted at on its behalf, announces its intention to return to the world of racing.

Production is slated to start later this year and orders will be accepted from September 9th, following the world premiere.
