Short test: Peugeot 308

The Tristoosmica test was the school's flashy machine. Ask psychologists - the darkness of a person tires (ask the northern Scandinavians), and the light fills with vital energy. At Peugeot, the bright interior was implemented in two ways: with a large skylight and with light upholstery. The car was so bright that it was pleasant to sit in it just because of it.

Indeed, this also has disadvantages; The central part, which logically began and ended on the dashboard, was dominated by black, while above and below this part was light gray. It is extremely ungrateful even in the slightest rain, not to mention long-term problems with cleaning.

Of course, light by itself does not mean that you will be fine in the car, it is just a good start to the story. Let's just say a lot also means that the steering wheel is great for traction and is well adjustable. But it is not small, and it is good that it is not small, because there are huge classic sensors behind it. One for the revs is perfectly readable, and the other for the speed, unfortunately, a little less. However, today this (punishment!) Is very important. Conversely, a large (or small) trip computer display between small sensors; we have already seen the larger ones in the smaller Peugeot, but this one here is absolutely correct, that is, it is well readable and quite rich with simultaneous information.

If Tristoosmica is made of leather, it has a high quality feel, works solidly, tightly, and is not only part of a classic grip to enhance prestige, but also a material that is comfortable for (especially longer) stays. The seats are also well designed and engineered to make staying in the 308 enjoyable from that perspective as well. The rear seat, as usual, folds down to increase luggage space by first raising part of the seat, for which the front seats must first be moved forward a little. I mean - in the extreme position of the front seats, the rear bench seat does not rise. However, this 308 did have a ski (or for long items) opening, an accessory rarely seen in test cars and, if you often haul something longer, a very handy solution.

The cabin of this Tristoosmica, which lends a sense of prestige to its materials (including many "chrome" accessories), surface treatment, design and construction, is also quite quiet and calm, and everything works very solidly, compactly and reliably. In addition, Alure is also a rich set of equipment, and if it had a USB port, the picture would be close to perfection; only personal taste can become an obstacle in assessing the interior.

So mechanics? The engine in this body is very powerful, but also in terms of consumption it can be modest. The on-board computer showed 100 liters at 2.200 km / h in sixth gear (5,1 rpm), 130 liters at 3.000 (6,5) and 160 liters at 3.600 (10,0) per 100 km. At 60 kilometers per hour (1.300!), It didn't feel particularly well due to the low revs, so it was consuming 4,7 liters per 100 kilometers at the time. The turbo tech requires a bit more revs, in this case around 1.800, to come alive, which isn't particularly difficult with the six gears. The gear lever still moves somewhat endlessly and gives rather poor feedback, which is a bit at odds with the sporty nature of the engine, but it's also true that one quickly gets used to its flies.

Tristoosmica, which received several fixes this spring, still has a bright future, at least from a technical standpoint. Nearby, of course. There is still room for eight people for the ICO

Cat style

For those who want more with the 308, Peugeot offers an interesting version with a very French name - Feline. So it's something feline and the 308 really didn't miss it, as the designers wanted to evoke this kind of animal, at least with a powerful mask and properly positioned oblique light. The shape of our test car was still original, now Peugeot has taken care of updating it.

Of course, most things under the hood remain unchanged, and the most important part is definitely the mid-range engine. The turbocharger provides adequate power and good torque even at lower rpm, so it resembles a turbodiesel in its basic characteristics. This, of course, is very convincing, but the average figures can be moderate (about 7,5 liters per 100 km). The extremely rich equipment (including Cielo panoramic glass and 18-inch wheels) deserves praise. The driver and front passenger feel great in the quality seats (leather and fabric upholstery and body design), and the driver also boasts an easy way to connect mobile phones for hands-free calls.

Less impressed with driving comfort. Perhaps winter tires are to blame, but the odd ride and uncontrolled suspension response when driving over large bumps is not the best part of the car. While approving the fact that it has a navigation device, it, unfortunately, should also be criticized due to outdated cartography.

Cat Style Rating: Excellent. (TP)

evaluation

  • Peugeot Tristoosmica becomes a classic in its class. If he is so motorized, he is already flirting with sportiness, if he is so equipped, then even with prestige. Otherwise a good family package.

We praise and reproach

bright interior

quiet interior without vibrations

engine performance

equipment, a sense of prestige

movement of the gear lever below average

the sound signals of the PDC system are not informative enough

slightly too soft chassis for sporty engine performance
