Short test: Mazda 3 G120 Revolution
Mazda actually avoids revolutionary changes and adheres to the principle of improving proven technologies. The Mazda 3 redesign, unveiled last August, brought the newcomer new LED headlights, the interior has been improved with better materials, the addition of an electronic parking brake, a heated steering wheel and a head-up screen in front of the driver. Like all other models (except the MX-5), the Mazda 3 is now equipped with GVC (G-Vectoring Controll), which actively monitors what is happening under the wheels and adapts the traction control system for better cornering. ...
Mazda's decision not to succumb to the downward trend in engine sizes seems reasonable, at least at Troika. Instead of replacing the entire range of engines, they decided to modify the existing ones. Thus, with the help of the so-called SkyActive technology, they achieved the maximum efficiency of this base. The two-liter petrol engine, which is a real rarity in this class, squeezes out a friendly 120 "horsepower". Expect not only breakneck speed, but linear acceleration and optimal fuel consumption.
As stated, the Mazda 3 has undergone some interior changes, but it's still a completely familiar environment. The slightly uniform design of the fittings is broken by the white leather upholstery and many chrome trims and accessories. There is ample room in all directions, only taller drivers will run out per inch longitudinally. In addition to the aforementioned handbrake switch, there is a rotary knob that controls the center of the central multimedia display. The functionality of the latter is at a high level, but there is still some room for improvement, especially in relation to smartphones (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto…).
What can customers expect from the current Mazda 3? Certainly confidence that such a proven design, combined with high-quality materials in the cabin, is ready for a million kilometers. Still, we look forward to the day when Mazda also makes a revolutionary leap in its top three.
