Short test: Škoda Fabia Combi 1.0 TSI Style // Prejudice

In fact, it is still the latest Škoda model. All the rest (perhaps the closest to her Octavia) have become not only technologically, but also in terms of design (outside and inside) something completely different, which we imagined under the term Škoda many years ago. Four years ago we wrote about the Fabia that it has fresh, more sporty features, but if we look at what Škoda has released over the past two years and what the Fabia looks like even after the update, it becomes clear why it has a lot of potential. clients. feeling that Fabia remained "somewhere behind."

It's a shame (not a brand, it's really a shame) that this is so, because after the last update, the Fabia has evolved into a digital and auxiliary machine that easily fights (almost any) competition.

Okay, you can't think of fully digital sensors in it, and even when it comes to autonomous driving, the Fabia sticks to basic Active Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning, but that's enough for a car like this. More importantly, this is the barrel Kombija huge and very useful (with a net for attaching and a hook for hanging), that there is enough space in front and enough in the back (of course, depending on whether there is a pronounced length in front or not) and that the ergonomics are generally good. The Style version, in addition to the richest equipment, includes design details that give the interior a more prestigious look, but it is not so equipped that you do not have to pay extra. The list of additions includes a blind spot monitoring system, a DAB receiver, unlocking the car without using a key (interestingly, starting the engine with a button is standard here), front parking sensors, and the person in the configurator looks ugly. selects a connection option. smartphones Android Auto wings Apple CarPlay requires the purchase of a navigation device (which is completely unnecessary for these systems).

Liter TSI fuel efficient enough and alive enough to blend perfectly with the character of this Fabia, and it's the same (though a DSG dual-clutch automatic would be an even better choice) for a six-speed manual transmission. The power supplies are still sufficient, even if the Fabia is loaded, but of course (especially at highway speeds) no miracles are to be expected. On the other hand: with five liters on a normal lap, the consumption is also good, especially since the engine is much ahead of diesel engines in the absence of noise, but it is also much more pleasant to drive ... Chassis? Set more for comfort (and it works well in this area), but control of body vibrations with sharper driving, handling and amount of feedback is still good enough.

Such a Fabia is appreciated despite (yes, 17 thousand is a considerable amount, but given that it is the best motorized and equipped, not so much), it proves that prejudices are just prejudices.
