Short test: Honda Civic 1.0 Turbo Elegance

With 95 kilowatts (129 "horsepower"), it's not only powerful enough to keep the Civica moving without any problems, but it's also quite agile, as Honda should be. At the same time, it is well enough soundproofed, yet comfortable enough for the ears, you can almost record a slightly sporty sound. At the same time, I was surprised by a favorable consumption on a normal lap, which is not quite what every liter grinder can boast of in such large cars. Too often it turns out that the volume savings have gone too far, so the engine has to work with too much effort, which of course can be seen in fuel consumption - and often a more powerful engine is more economical. We expected something like this from the Civic, especially since the version with the more powerful 1,5-liter engine consumed less than five liters on a standard lap. Expectations were met, but there was no difference. At just over five liters, this Civic is still one of the best motorized and big cars alike.

Since a Civic is a Civic, there is much to be said for the chassis and road position, and a little less for the ergonomics. It's still a little confusing for a European driver (it's okay to sit and feel behind the wheel), as some of the buttons are a bit forced and the infotainment system can be a bit unique - but it works, admittedly, well.

The Elegance label also stands for a host of safety and comfort systems, from navigation and Apple CarPlay to LED headlights, lane control, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking and of course digital LCD indicators.

If we add to this the price of just over 20 thousand, it becomes clear that the Civic has earned not only a place among the finalists of the Slovenian Car of the Year, but also that many members of the jury put it at the very top.

evaluation

  • This Civic has almost everything: enough capacity, space and equipment, and a reasonably low price. If it were a little more European in design and ergonomics ...
