Short test: Fiat 500L Living 1.3 Multijet 16v Dualogic Lounge

Until recently, we could get to know the latest Fiat alternative to their 500L Trekking version. This one was a pleasant surprise in many ways, even though Fiat's small minivan has been on the market for a year now. Another new addition to the offer is the 500L Living. Fiat had some trouble finding an extension for the long body version when using the L shape for the 500 (L is just as big). Why label Living even marketers Fiat could not really explain. Does anyone think that you will live better if you have more space in your car? You can do it!

The main feature of the Living version is, of course, the longer rear end, which is a good 20 centimeters longer. But this interference also affects the look of the car, and I would argue that the regular 500L is more attractive, and the rear of the Living seems to have added a bit of strength. But if you do not pay attention to the appearance, then it is very useful for a man to live. Of course, if he needs a big trunk, because the additional cost of two mini-seats in the third row is really worth considering. Namely, children from other types cannot be moved there, because child car seats cannot be installed there at all, and there is also relatively little space for ordinary passengers, provided that they are short (but, of course, not small children) and dexterous enough to get into all in the ass.

The huge boot looks much more convincing, and the second row's movable seat also contributes to flexibility.

The motor equipment also seems quite acceptable. The 1,3-liter turbodiesel is powerful enough, flexible enough and economical. In extreme winter conditions, a test average of 6,7 liters per 100 km is not that much, and our standard race finished with an average of 500 liters of Living with an average consumption of 5,4 liters of diesel fuel. If I had a choice, I definitely wouldn't choose a Dualogic gearbox. This is a robotic manual transmission, that is, one that is assisted by an automatic clutch when starting off and changing gears.

Such a gearbox is definitely not for unexpected users who need quick and precise control of the lever and a feeling of comfort when starting off on slippery (especially snowy) surfaces. When the transmission is running in an automatic program, the time it takes to change the gear ratio, which lasts and lasts, also seems questionable. But it is more of a feeling, although it is true that in the manual program we can achieve slightly faster gear changes, it is also true that we do not need an automatic transmission at all.

For the 500L Living, I could write that it's a pretty good and useful car, but only if you don't think about being too different (which also costs money). You can get even more value, that is, one at no extra charge for seven seats and a Dualogic gearbox!
