The debut of the restyled version of the first generation of the front-wheel drive hatchback KIA Ray took place at the home auto show held at the end of 2017. Despite the long production period (more than 11 years without changes), the manufacturer decided not to make drastic changes to the design of the car's exterior. A decorative overlay appeared on the front, which imitates a radiator grill. The headlights now have lenses and LED DRLs.

Under the hood, the compact hatchback receives an uncontested power unit that runs on gasoline. This is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. Engineers slightly corrected the operation of the electronics, thanks to which, according to the manufacturer, it was possible to reduce gasoline consumption.

The motor is paired with an uncontested automatic transmission with 4 speeds. The suspension of the novelty is classic: MacPherson struts are installed in front, and a transverse torsion beam at the rear.
