Campaign from VW - the opportunity to assemble the car yourself

German automaker Volkswagen recently opened an interesting service for its customers. When ordering an electric hatchback e-Golf, the buyer is given the opportunity to participate in the assembly process of a car. Most likely, the reason for such an action is an attempt to hold on "afloat" amid the developing crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Anyone can visit the factory in Dresden. The cost of the service is 215 euros.

To prevent theft and damage to property, security officers will monitor the process. The maximum number of visitors is 4 people. The participation of buyers will be allowed not at all stages of assembly, but only at five. Here is a list of jobs that customers will be allowed to:

  • Radiator installation;
  • Installation of a decorative lattice;
  • Optics connection;
  • Installation of a decorative label with a company label;
  • Assembly of some elements of the body and motor.

The whole process will take no more than 2,5 hours. The package also includes a tour of some sites. And in the bar located on the territory of the enterprise, campaign participants are given a 10 percent discount on the group's souvenir products and drinks.

Volkswagen e-Golf will be available until the end of 2020, and the line closes. It will be replaced by ID.3. The electric-powered hatchback is built on the new MEB platform of a modular type. Subsequently, most VW electric cars will be assembled on this platform. For those who order ID.3 next year, the service of participating in the assembly of the vehicle will also be available.
