History of the UAZ automobile brand

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (abbreviation UAZ) is an automobile enterprise of the Sollers holding. The specialization is aimed at prioritizing the production of off-road vehicles with all-wheel drive, trucks, and minibuses.

The origin of the history of the emergence of UAZ dates back to the Soviet era, namely during the Second World War, when, during the invasion of the German army into the territory of the USSR, it was decided to urgently evacuate large-scale industrial organizations, among which was the Stalin Plant (ZIS). It was decided to evacuate the ZIS from Moscow to the city of Ulyanovsk, where the production of shells for Soviet aviation soon began.

And in 1942, several ZIS 5 military vehicles were already produced, more trucks, and the production of power units was also introduced.

On June 22, 1943, the Soviet government decided to create the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. A huge scale of territory was allocated for its development. In the same year, the first car, named as UlZIS 253, came off the assembly line.

In 1954, the Chief Designer Department was created, initially working with the technical documentation of GAZ. And two years later, a government order to create projects for new types of cars. An innovative technology was created that no other car company owned. The technology consisted in placing the cab above the power unit, which contributed to the increase in the body, while the length itself was kept in the same place.

The same 1956 was another important event - entering the market through the export of cars to other countries.

The range of production was significantly expanded, the plant specialized in the production of ambulances and vans, in addition to trucks.

After the 60s, the question arose of expanding the staff and the most productive capacity in general to increase the production of cars.

In the early 70s, production increased and the number of models and production increased significantly. And in 1974 an experimental model of an electric car was developed.

In 1992, the plant was transformed into a joint stock company.

At this stage of its development, UAZ is the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles in Russia. Recognized as a leading Russian manufacturer since 2015. Further development continues in the production of cars.

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant was established by the Soviet government.

Emblem

The laconic form of the emblem, as well as its chrome structure, are minimalist and modern.

The emblem itself is made in the form of a circle with a metal frame, inside and on the sides outside of it, there are stylized wings.

Under the emblem there is an inscription UAZ in green colors and a special font. This is the logo of the company.

The emblem itself is associated with the spread wings of a proud eagle. This reflects the urge to take off.

History of UAZ vehicles

The first car to come off the assembly line is considered to be a multi-ton truck UlZIS 253 in 1944. The car was equipped with a diesel power unit.

In the fall of 1947, the first truck for 1,5 tons of the UAZ AA model was produced.

At the end of 1954, the UAZ 69 model debuted. On the basis of the chassis of this model, the UAZ 450 model with a solid body was designed. The converted version in the form of a sanatorium car was referred to as the UAZ 450 A.

Five years later, the UAZ 450 V was created and produced, which was an 11-seat bus. There was also a converted version of the UAZ 450 D flatbed truck model, which had a two-seater cabin.

All converted versions from the UAZ 450 A did not have a side door at the rear of the car, the only exception was the UAZ 450 V.

In 1960, the production of an all-terrain vehicle of the UAZ 460 model was completed. The advantage of the car was a spar frame and a powerful power unit from the GAZ 21 model.

A year later, a rear-wheel drive truck UAZ 451 D, as well as a van model 451, were produced.

The development of a sanitary model of a car capable of being operated in severe frosts down to -60 degrees is underway.

The 450/451 D models were soon replaced by a new model of the UAZ 452 D light-duty truck. The main characteristics of the car were a 4-stroke power unit, a two-seat cab, and a body made of wood.

1974 was not only the year of UAZ productivity, but also the creation of an innovative project to create an experimental electric car model U131. The number of models produced was slightly small - 5 units. The car was created on the basis of the chassis from the model 452. The asynchronous power unit was three-phase, and the battery was more than half charged in less than an hour.

1985 is characterized by the release of the model 3151 with good technical data. Also worthy of attention was a powerful power unit with a speed of 120 km / h.

The Jaguar or the UAZ 3907 model had a special body equipped with sealed doors that closed. The special difference from all other cars was that it was a project of a military vehicle floating in the water.

A modified version of the 31514 saw the world in 1992, equipped with an economical powertrain and an improved car exterior.

The Bars model or the modernized 3151 came out in 1999. There were no special changes, except for a slightly modified design of the car, since it was longer, and the power unit.

The Hunter SUV model was replaced by the 3151 in 2003. The car is a station wagon with a cloth top (the original version was a metal top).

One of the latest models is the Patriot, which has the introduction of newer technologies. The design itself and technical characteristics clearly separate it from the previous UAZ models. On the basis of this model, the Cargo model was later released.

UAZ does not stop its development. As one of the leading Russian car manufacturers, he creates high-quality and reliable cars. Not many models of other auto companies will not be able to boast of such durability and service life of cars as UAZ, since the cars of those years are still widely used. Since 2013, the export of cars has been significantly increased.
