In 1900, the two Grabowski brothers, Mark and Maurice, designed their first car, a truck that was built for sale. The car was equipped with a motor with one cylinder, located horizontally. Then, in 1902, the brothers founded the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company. She began to specialize in the production of trucks, which received a single-cylinder engine.
In 1908, General Motors was created, which included William Durant. The brand took over the company, like everyone else that operated in Michigan. Already in 1909, the GMC truck generation appears. Since 1916, the General Motors Corporation appears. The cars produced by it crossed America during the Trans-American motor rally.
When the First World War began, the company began to produce cars for the army. In total, about one thousand copies of machines of various modifications were produced. at the end of hostilities, the company began to improve equipment at a facility in Michigan. In addition, she began to re-equip cars in motorcars and railcars.
The year 1925 was marked by the fact that another car brand from Chicago “The yellow Cab Manufacturing” entered the American company. Since that time, the automaker has been able to design medium and light duty trucks under its logo.
In 1927, cars of the T family were produced. Since 1931, the Class 8 car and the T-95 truck began to be produced. the latest model had pneumatic brakes, three axles. four stages of transmission and lifting capacity up to 15 tons.
