Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi (66 kW) Comfort

Fifth grade does not mean an elementary school student, let alone a miserable student. This means a five-year overall warranty, which is a great help for those who don't want to have a problem with their car.

But I bet the i30 will serve you as your most dedicated servant, even if you travel for trade and travel many miles a year.

Thus, the five is a good bait for buyers, although some competitors (mainly a subsidiary of Kia, which is the main owner of Hyundai) are already offering a seven. This is no longer logical. Why is the Hyundai i30 not the first, if not the only one, with an impressive warranty, but is confidently overtaken by Cee'd? Who is already the primary owner?

However, I remember the blue color not only because of the body color that our test car showed off, but also because of the blue illumination of the dashboard. If you are too daring with illuminated instruments, the i30 can always greet you with an invigorating color that many will probably not like. For example, it didn't bother us at all.

The excellent ergonomics of the workspace also contributes to wellbeing, as the good seat has been redesigned with longitudinal adjustment and adjustment of the steering wheel and seat height, and in the first place there will be no shortage of space. At the rear, it will be a little tighter, but still spacious enough for children, and you can squeeze 340 liters of luggage into the trunk.

In the i30 test, the only thing I really bothered about was the plastic steering wheel and gear lever, which after a few days became unpleasantly sticky due to moving palms. Survived.

With a 1.6 CRDi turbo diesel engine, it cannot be missed, although in theory it has a modest 66 kilowatts or 90 "horsepower". We missed the sixth gear in the predecessor (the i30 freshened up a bit in our test in the 10th issue of 2008), now it's new. But again with the remark that it would take longer to reduce the noise from under the hood on the highway to a more acceptable level.

Actually, the engine is very good, if you do not take into account the roughness during cold start (and the noise, which, fortunately, only partially penetrates into the cabin) and the small operating range (from 1.500 to 3.000 rpm, maybe up to 3.500 rpm for the less sensitive.).

Consumption of about seven liters is more than acceptable, as it does not require sacrifice in a dynamic turn or overtaking. But fast turns are not the trump card of this car. The power steering and softer chassis are more comfort-oriented, so use the torque to cruise the world lazily. And by the end of the month you will get even cheaper, taking into account the cost of fuel and traffic violations.

Four airbags, two curtain airbags, automatic air conditioning, radio with CD player (and very modern accessories, iPod and USB ports), central locking, electric power steering in the front and rear windows and an on-board computer are almost perfect for Comfort equipment. missing was only the ESP (standard on Style) and the more awkward rear parking assist sensors (standard on the best Premium equipment), which of course can also be checked in the accessory list.

The general consensus in the editorial staff is that they will have to take care of updating the design (what do they know, just look at the new ones: i20, ix35 ..), maybe widen the sixth gear a bit and offer a better price. There are already discounts, but the price of Cee'd probably offends. Then we can write that the blue color is not only the body and the instrument panel, but also the purchase decision.

evaluation

  • A useful and economical turbodiesel and a good warranty are good travelers, as is a six-speed gearbox. All that's missing is a lower price, more attractive design, and more aggressive advertising, and the i30 will fit in with the top sellers.
