GMC Hummer: First Pickup Features Revealed

Recently, an American manufacturer showed a teaser of his electric pickup truck, and the other day the first technical characteristics of the new product were revealed. In terms of numbers, the car is impressive.

Hummer are civilian SUVs based on military Humvee vehicles. The production was launched in 1992. In 2010, the production of new cars was discontinued. GMC tried to sell the brand to Chinese buyers, but the deal fell through at the last moment. As a result, the Hummer “disappeared from the radar”. Now the brand is reborn! The presentation of the new Hummer is scheduled for May 2020.

The first teaser gave almost no information about the new product. It shows only the silhouette of a pickup truck. The next shot provided by the manufacturer is much more interesting: it shows the front of the pickup.

The picture makes it clear that instead of a radiator grille, the car will have a plug. The large front bumper features a slightly offset GMC symbol. The photo also shows additional running lights located on the roof of the car.

The first technical specifications pleasantly surprised motorists. Under the hood, the car will have an electrical installation with a capacity of 1000 horsepower. The maximum torque is 15 592 Nm. The pickup will accelerate to 100 km / h in just 3 seconds! There is no information about the battery characteristics yet.

The official presentation of the pickup will be held in May 2020. The car will be produced at the D-HAM factory. Soon the facility will be completely converted for the manufacture of electric cars. GMC will spend $ 2,2 billion on this. Until 2023, the plant will produce 20 electric vehicles.
