Depending on how tight the threaded connections on your vehicle need to be, you should choose an angle wrench or a straight wrench for trucks. They differ in the location of the rotating handle, which is installed in the back or side. Pneumatic tools also come with an angular position of the head, which cannot be said about the mechanical version, the latter must rest with a special foot on the adjacent nut, which is why it can only be straight.
How a portable impact wrench works
As for the mechanical variation of this tool, it is better to use it only for loosening nuts. A minimum muscle tension is required, and when tightening the nuts, the forces can not be calculated and the threaded connection can be torn off. With rusted and seized bolted joints, such problems will not arise for obvious reasons.

Electric models, as well as pneumatic ones, work on the principle of rotational-impact action. With an increase in the resistance of the threaded connection, the output shaft with the nozzle stops, but the flywheel shaft of the percussion mechanism rotates freely by the engine rotor until it collides with a special ledge. At the moment of the resulting push, an impulse arises that acts on the pusher cam and brings it into contact with the clutch, due to which a blow occurs, slightly turning the head with a nozzle. Then the rotor rotates again together with the flywheel shaft until the next contact with the protrusion and the next impact.
