Ford Transit 300 KMR 2.2 TDCi

In terms of design, there is not much on the new, refurbished, in short, another Ford Transit, but at the same time there is a lot that is new. The front end is different, the headlights are no longer wide, but elongated in height. The grille is such that it can be sold as a “stand alone car”. There are fewer changes in the rear, but more on the inside, where you even find the former Mondeo steering wheel, which is no longer as heavily truck mounted as it used to be. Its surroundings are also one step closer to passenger cars.

The Transit is still the typical van serving a delivery company, a passenger transport company, or a family that either has a lot of kids or a lot of luggage or some kind of props. Maybe she likes sheet metal "tents"?

There are so many storage spaces on and around the control panel that you'll have a hard time filling them up with all the small items you carry out of the store. Liter bottles are lost along the bottom edge, there is a place for cans at the top along the edges, two large drawers at the top of the fittings, but the engineers and the classics in front of the navigator (a) have not forgotten, and, in addition, it is located above the radio, which also plays music from a CD -disk and was similar to those from personal Fords - for an additional fee), but a retractable disk that can store papers or (again) a drink.

The appearance of the instruments again resembles a personal Ford, as does the light switch. The Transit renovation has become a welcome innovation in the interior. The six-speed gear lever has moved towards the steering wheel and is now conveniently closed. It is even more gratifying that he moves happily, catches short movements and sits well in the palm of his hand. It is a shame that there is no sixth gear that would make the modern 2-liter Duratorq turbodiesel with 2 "horsepower" and 130 Nm of torque consume even less at highway speeds and, above all, less loudly.

The rest of the engine is excellent; Powerful enough in combination with front-wheel drive and a weighted rear end when starting uphill on slippery roads, sometimes even too strong. Wheels with the right ground can turn in neutral even in third gear! The heel can go from about 60 kilometers per hour to top speed (we calculated a lot for it, didn't we?), Which is due to the good performance of the engine at 1.500 rpm (up to 2.500), where the engine already offers maximum torque. The engine is good where it is most important in this type of transport.

In the Van of the Year this year (Van of the Year 2007), two more rows of seats are placed behind the first two seats (two can sit on the right). The latter is removable, but without the help (77 kilograms) of some strong neighbor will not work. The elderly (checked!) Will be worried about the height of the entrance staircase, which is very unfriendly for the less mobile, since it is high. There are no problems behind the second row of seats. Sliding door on the right.

The driver's seat is the most comfortable and most adjustable, and at least while the seats are soft, it is comfortable in the back as the rear bench is just above the rear axle for which there is ample storage space. The salon boasts a considerable amount of space.

With this van I would dare to get into the top XNUMX Euroleague clubs! The base (short wheelbase, first height) Transit Kombi comes standard with a third brake light, driver airbag, ABS, power steering, six-way adjustable driver's seat, double passenger seat, radio and two speakers, two more rows of seats and two rows of seats. Adjustable exterior mirrors. Manually adjustable. ...

The front side windows (this only applies to one half, the other is fixed) were electrically moved in the test room by additional equipment, otherwise this work is done manually. There is also an additional charge for air conditioning. There are standard tinted side windows, however. ... Euroleague, where am I waiting for you?

evaluation

  • This Transit is a pleasure to sit and “work” behind the wheel of a Mondeo. It almost feels like a passenger car, and the van is spacious, despite the low roof version and short wheelbase. The engine is good enough to recommend. Just walking to the end of the accelerator pedal is no longer a practice. Well, if you like "attractive" ...
