The Ford Mustang GT is scenic and inexpensive for the cavalry it offers, but fuel consumption is very high and the super stamp has a lot to do with operating costs. The finish is far from German premium, but the customization is complete and versatile for everyday use. A great alternative to the usual European sports.
"Europeanized", as they define the new Ford Mustang, muscle car which in its last generation ceased to be an imported car and became a real competitor to the sports cars of the old continent. But that's not the only thing that makes it more European. The Ford Mustang GT is more compact on the outside (and we like it better) and more technologically advanced (it didn't take long). Instead of a rigid bridge on the rear axle, we find a diagram suspensions multi-link: a solution that makes driving easier, more stable and more comfortable. IN 8-liter V5,0 with 420 hp it's still unmistakably US - in sound and volume - but now it boasts 4 valves per cylinder and capable 7.000 circles... Finally, there is moresports trim (which is standard for us, while in America it is not necessary), which provides i 19 inch wheels and stiffer springs, as well as a Brembo braking system.
CITY
After removing the problem of length (478 cm), Ford Mustang GT carelessly moving around the city. Visibility - despite the long hood - is good, the engine is very quiet (and with a pleasant growl, reminiscent of a Riva motorboat), and the dampers are very soft. Our version is equipped 6-speed automatic transmission (2.000 euros optional) classic torque converter, sweet in the passages, but not lightning fast. This certainly makes using the city more comfortable, but it takes away some of the fun. Illness is an expense: the 8 V5,0 has biblical thirst and it's really hard to keep up in the city 6-7 km / l.
IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
Where F shows its Europeanization in curves. Keep in mind: he has no dexterity like one Cayman or the speed of one TTS RS, but compared to older generations, it is much more maneuverable. IN steering and engine response have three settings distinctly, but even in the most extreme mode, the Mustang remains soft and vague. It rises up when accelerating and bounces slightly over the holes, in full style. muscle; ma he also knows how easy it is to handle sporty driving on a mountain road. The understeer is very light and you always manage to get the wheels where you want them. The braking power impressed me, but the pedal has a short stroke making metering difficult. Praise instead engine which, despite the monstrous couple 530 Nm, laid out after 4.000 laps, with the soundtrack for a Steve McQueen film. It's so soft and full that you always want to go full throttle, starting at a traffic light with the rear wheels in smoke. A very funny thing, but it gets everyone's attention (including the police).
Its strong point, of course, is oversteer.. The weight between the front and rear axles is distributed “poorly”, in other words: it weighs a lot in the front, it is light in the back: in practice, the car is designed for drifting. With embedded electronic control F it is easy and safe even on wet roads. If you are quick-witted and want to have some fun, simply "unplug" to paint long black commas on the pavement.
Driving sideways is really easy and the loss of traction is gradual and not intimidating at all. To summarize, The Mustang is a toy that will please both the most sophisticated driver and those who want to stroll and enjoy the roar of the V8.

In sixth place is the V8 of F hums at approximately 2.000 rpm, hiss is limited and tire rolling noise is acceptable. From this point of view, it is a very comfortable sports car that can cover kilometers. Then there is cruise control, 9-speaker radio and dual-zone climate... The downside always remains consumption: on average on the motorway about 8-9 km / l.
LIFE ON BOARD
La life on a Ford Mustang GT isn't bad at all. Seats Recaro they are voluminous, but very comfortable, and in the back they are increasingly talking about "improvised" seats. IN 408-liter trunk instead, it is wide and deep, with very little to say about it. In terms of finishes, we find soft parts and leather, as well as a lot of hard plastics with toy air. In this, the Mustang is still not very European, but this is part of its charm. List price is 45.000 euro (ours with Automatic transmission is 47.000) and already complete with all the desired accessories, including: 19-inch wheels, cruise control, reversing camera, infotainment system with navigation, etc. On the other hand, there is a super-stamp that kills the advantage of its affordable price, as well as the immense thirst for a V8.
