The Toyota 3UZ-FE engine in 2000 replaced the outdated 1UZ-FE engine. Its working volume was increased from 4 to 4,3 liters, equipped with a VVT-i system for shifting the phases of the gas distribution mechanism (timing), valves of larger diameter. Engine problems
Typical 3UZ-FE engine problems:
- increased consumption of oil, coolant - a consequence of the block collapse by 90º;

- the timing belt may break with bending of the valves, it is necessary to regularly monitor the condition of the belt;
- poor attachment of flaps that change the geometry of the intake, parts of which can enter the engine, creating scoring.
Performing routine maintenance will help prevent costly repairs due to a broken drive belt. Filling the engine with oil - 5,1 liters, taking into account the filling of the filter. You need to change the lubricant after 10 thousand kilometers, and the standard resource for the timing system is 100 thousand.
Tuning 3UZ-FE
There are several options for increasing the power at the third node:
- Installing the Eaton M90 compressor (when installing this compressor in the drain, you don't even need an intercooler). It is not necessary to reflash the ECU, although if you do this work, it will also give some gain. As a result, with this whale, you can get 300-340 hp. at the exit.
- Installation of turbines. For example, there is a TTC Performance turbo kit that allows you to inflate the knot to 600 hp. But the price of such kits is usually huge - more than $ 20000.
