What is Alcantara in a car
Although the term "alcantara" has been present on a car grill for already a few decades, for the majority of non-experts it has a good amount of snail. Many people consider this fabric to be an elite version of natural leather, others confuse it with a donkey.
In fact, in the course of this material, there is nothing natural. It was developed by the Japanese researcher Miyoshi Okamoto in the early 1970s from the name of the chemical company Torai.
In 1972, the Japanese signed an agreement with the Italian chemical company ENI on the production and distribution of new fabrics. For this, a joint venture of Alsantara SpA was created, which, as before, forces the right to the same material.
Alcantara is produced through a complex sequence of processes. The basis of the material is woven from ultra-thin two-component fibers with the poetic name "Island in the sea". It goes through a long series of chemical and textile manufacturing processes - perforation, polishing, impregnation, extraction, finishing, dyeing, etc.
The final product has an extremely wide application. It is used for upholstery of furniture, clothes, adornments, helmets and, of course, for cars and yachts. It consists of 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane, which makes it a complete composite. The composition of the materials will give the alkantara increased durability and resistance to the appearance of stains.
The look and feel of the Japanese-Italian fabric strongly resembles a sultry, therefore it is often incorrectly defined as "skin". In the automotive industry, it is usually used for upholstering the interior of other models. For this, three different types are used. The upholstery is used for the seats, with the help of the Panel, the door panels are sheathed, and with the help of Soft, the instrument panels are “dressed”.
Some types of alcantara, such as ultrasound, have the ability to slow down the spread of fire. This makes them particularly suitable for both interiors, as well as for car cabins.
One of the most remarkable characteristics of the alcantara is the absence of a difference between the two surfaces, which distinguishes all other delicious characteristics of Also, the material was handled by the manufacturers, since after cutting there is practically no loss.
Alcantara of elastic natural leather. This property makes it an ideal fabric for upholstery of the most unusual shapes and miniature sizes. To clean it, it is sufficient to use ordinary detergents for the skin, and it can also be washed in a washing machine.
Like any other original product, Alcantara also has copies. They are united by a common characteristic - they are woven. They are easy to recognize by cutting a very thin strip. If the place is shabby, then the material is fake.
