Before the arrival of spring, it is necessary to take care of the condition of our car and repair all the damage that occurred after the winter. So, what should you pay attention to first of all?
We will check the condition of the paintwork by thoroughly cleaning our vehicle – any scratches must be protected because 
if ignored, they can lead to corrosion. Wash the chassis and wheel arch niches very carefully. When we notice some irregularities, without hesitation we give the car to specialists. Particular attention should also be paid to the steering system, suspension and brake hoses - their rubber elements could be damaged when in contact with ice. In winter, the exhaust system is also vulnerable to damage - let's check the mufflers, because the high temperature inside and the condensation of water vapor, combined with the low temperature outside, can easily lead to corrosion.
“During the spring check of the car, the tires have to be changed to summer ones. I do not call for the use of all-season tires, as they tend to wear out faster and lose their properties when used in positive temperatures. The reason for this is the soft rubber compound from which they are made, as well as the special shape of the tread. Using them all year round can only pay off for people who use the car infrequently.” says Marek Godziska, Technical Director of Auto-Boss.
Before the spring season, we will check the condition of the summer tires. You should also remember to protect winter tires - if they are in good condition. should be washed, dried and treated with a special tire care product to prolong their life.
The brake system is also inconvenient in winter - due to high temperature differences, brake pads and discs cool down quickly after use, which contributes to faster wear. Water on the moving parts of the calipers causes corrosion - a sign of this can be a squeak or creak when braking, as well as a noticeable pulsation when you press the pedal. If in doubt, carry out brake diagnostics.
When inspecting a car after winter, do not forget about its interior. “In winter, we bring a lot of water in the car. It accumulates under floor mats, which can rot and corrode electrical components inside the car. Also, do not underestimate the measures associated with fumigating the air conditioner before the onset of hot weather, as neglecting this can affect our health. adds Marek Godziska, Technical Director of Auto-Boss.
We finish the review by checking and topping up the working fluids - we control not only their level, but, if possible, the quality - engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant, brake fluid and washer fluid. It is worth replacing winter fluid with summer fluid because of the different properties of these fluids.
Our vehicles require special attention all year round. Despite the fact that after the winter we can do many actions in the car "on our own", for these more serious treatments the car should be given to a specialist.
