What can happen if you spend the night in the car drunk

In principle, there is no prohibition to sleep in the car - whether sober or drunk. However, it is worth paying attention to some details in order to avoid problems.

The first and basic rule when driving: it is forbidden to consume alcohol. If you're going out for a drink, forget about the car.

If you do get to the point of drinking alcohol, it is better to spend the night than to drive a car. However, even in this situation, accidents can occur.

Various media outlets have reported unintentionally releasing the brakes, the car starting up and hitting a tree, a pedal-pressed engine in which gases enter the car, or an overheated catalyst that set fire to the grass under the car.

It is also helpful to know how the body breaks down alcohol. On average, the alcohol content is reduced by 0,1 ppm per hour. This needs to be figured out before we head to the ditch the next morning. If it's only a few hours from the last cup to the first ride, your blood alcohol level is likely to be above the legal limit.

Where can we sleep in the car? Regardless of the mental and physical condition, it is better to spend the night in the right or back seat, but not in the driver's seat. The risk of unintentionally starting off or releasing the brakes is too high.

We do not recommend sleeping under the car. It is enough for the parking brake to release itself for something bad to happen. The vehicle must be parked in a visible place off the road.

It is possible that spending the night in the car will result in a fine. This can happen if the engine is started even “briefly” to start heating. Basically, it shouldn't look like you're ready to go at any moment. In this sense, it is good that the key is outside the starter.

Even just sitting in the driver's seat is enough to receive a fine, as this can be interpreted as intending to drive drunk.
