History of the Chevrolet automobile brand

Contents FounderEmblemHistory of the automobile brand in models The history of Chevrolet is slightly different from other brands. Nevertheless, Chevrolet produces an extensive range of cars. The founder of the brand "Chevrolet" bears the name of its creator - Louis Joseph Chevrolet. He was famous among auto mechanics and professional racers. He himself was a man with Swiss roots. Important note: Louis was not a businessman. Along with the "official" creator lives another person - William Durant. He is trying to bring General Motors out - he collects unprofitable car brands and drives the monopoly into a financial hole. At the same time, he loses securities and remains practically bankrupt. He turns to the banks for help, where he is invested 25 million in exchange for his departure from the company. This is how the Chevrolet automobile company begins its journey. Since 1911, the first car has been produced. There is an opinion that Duran assembled the car without the help of other people. For that time, the equipment was very expensive - $ 2500. For comparison: Ford cost 860 dollars, but the price eventually fell to 360 - there were no buyers. The Chevrolet Classic-Six was considered a VIP. Therefore, after that, the company changed direction - “put” on accessibility and simplicity. New cars are coming. In 1917, Durand's mini-company became part of General Motors, Chevrolet cars became the main products of the concert. Since 1923, more than 480 of one of the models have been sold. Over time, the slogan of the auto company “Great value” appears, and sales reach 7 cars. During the Great Depression, Chevrolet's turnover exceeded Ford's. In the 1940s, all the wooden bodies that remained were replaced with metal ones. The company develops in the pre-war, war and post-war periods - sales increase, Chevrolet produces cars, trucks, and in the 1950s the first sports car (Chevrolet Corlette) is created. The demand for Chevrolet cars in the fifties and seventies is designated in history as an iconic symbol of the United States (like baseball, hot dogs, for example). The company continues to produce various cars. More details about all models are written in the section "History of the car in models". Emblem Oddly enough, the signature cross or bow tie was originally part of the wallpaper. In 1908, William Durand stayed at a hotel where he tore off a repeating element, a pattern. The creator showed his friends the wallpaper and claimed that the figure looked like an infinity sign. He said that the company will be a huge part of the future - and he was not mistaken. In 1911 the logo consisted of cursive Chevrolet. Further, all the logos changed every decade - from black and white to blue and yellow. Now the emblem is still the same “cross” with a gradient from light yellow to dark yellow with a silver frame. The history of the automobile brand in models The first car was released on October 3, 1911. It was a Classic-Six Chevrolet. A car with a 16 liter engine, 30 horses and a cost of $2500. The car belonged to the VIP category and was practically not for sale. After a while, Chevrolet Baby and Royal Mail appeared - inexpensive 4-cylinder sports cars. They did not gain popularity, but the model, released later than the Chevrolet 490, was mass-produced until 1922. Since 1923, the Chevrolet 490 has been out of production and the Chevrolet Superior has come. In the same year, mass production of air-cooled machines was created. Since 1924, the creation of light vans opens, and from 1928 to 1932 - the production of International Six. 1929 - 6-cylinder Chevrolet is introduced and put into production. 1935 was marked by the release of the first eight-seat Chevrolet Suburban Carryall SUV. Along with this, the trunk is being edited in passenger cars - it becomes larger, the overall design of the cars is changing. The Suburban is still in production. Since 1937, the production of machines of the Standard and Master series with a "new" design begins. In wartime, shells, shells, bullets are produced along with cars, and the slogan changes to “More and better.” 1948 - production of the Chevrolet Stylemaster'48 sedan with 4 seats, and the following year, the production of DeLuxe and Special is launched. Since 1950, General Motors has been betting on new Powerglide cars, and three years later the first mass-produced sports car appears at the factories. Over the course of 2 years, the model has been improved. 1958 - Factory production Chevrolet Impala - a record number of car sales were sold, which is still not beaten. Starting next year, the production of El Camino began. During the release of these cars, the design was constantly changing, the body became more complicated and all aerodynamic characteristics were taken into account. 1962 - Subcompact Chevrolet Chevy 2 Nova is introduced. The wheels were improved, the headlight hood with electric drive and turn signals was lengthened - engineers and designers thought through everything to the smallest detail. After 2 years, serial production of the Chevrolet Malibu was opened - middle class, medium size, 3 types of cars: station wagon, sedan, convertible. 1965 - production of the Chevrolet Caprice, two years later - the Chevrolet Camaro SS. The latter caused a stir in the USA and began to be actively sold with different trim levels. In 1969 - Chevrolet Blazer 4x4. 4 years of its characteristics have changed. 1970-71 – Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Vega. 1976 – Chevrolet Chevrolet. Between these launches, the Impala car is sold 10 times, and the factory begins production of a "light commercial vehicle." Since then, the Impala has been the most popular car in the United States of America. 1980-81 - a small-capacity front-wheel drive Citation appeared and about the same Cavalier. The second sold more actively. 1983 - Chevrolet Blazer of the C-10 series is produced, a year later - Camaro Airos-Z. 1988 - factory production of Chevrolet Beretta and Corsica - new pickups, as well as Lumina Cope and APV - sedan, minivan.
